Woody smiled as he looked at Chip, hoping that the horrendous mental image Aluna had produced would be gone soon. "You'll have your own office, actually, upstairs. It'll be a little small with all the computer stuff in there, but it's yours. You'll be reporting directly to me, not Don, in case he tries to tell you otherwise. You're here strictly as support if anyone needs it, we had a new computer projector system installed over the summer in each classroom, pretty easy but some of our teachers are a little, shall we say old fashioned." He looked at Aluna and smiled, as she grinned and nodded her head in agreement. "I was also thinking, if you didn't mind, if you'd be willing to give some help to students not taking computer classes, but who want extra help with computer stuff? Like typing, and operating systems, that sort of thing. You don't have to, but I thought you seemed like a friendly type and that students would likely be more comfortable going to you rather than Don, especially the female students. Apparently he gives some of them the creeps, so the grape vine says. None of us have ever noticed anything, but you know how teenage girls are." Woody winked at Chip as Aluna chuckled.

Chip gave a laugh. Oh, he'd had his share of teenage girls. The trouble was they kept falling for him. Of course, here he was lucky to be able to tell the girls he was a member of the staff, and therefore unavailable.
Naturally that wasn't what he'd tell to the guys, but that was different.
He smiled to Woody.
"I'd be happy to do that," he said. "After the school hours I can stay here for a few hours for consultation and classes like that. I don't have that much of a home life." He grinned. "I think I can deal with teenage girls."
Well, he was exaggerating, but the point was that what he did for his actual job was mostly done at nights or at irregular times during the school hours when no one especially needed him. Or so he had calculated.

"Excellent! Well then, Luna here can take you up and get you settled in, you wouldn't mind giving him a quick tour of the place would you? My hands are a little tied at the moment with the school board, I'll tell you that story later." He rolled his eyes and gave her a knowing look, to which she responded by nodding.
"Not a problem, I have something I need to talk to you about but it can wait til later. Well then, let's be off." She stood up, picking up her bag and purse, waving to Woody as she left his office, leading Chip up to the second floor. Before leading him to the computer department she showed him a few important areas, like the teacher's lounge, bathroom and janitorial office in case of emergency. "Well here you are, your home for the next year or so, however long you stay. Come to the lounge for lunch, I'll introduce you around. I think you'll fit in nicely, we've got our fair share of young and fun staff members here, I'm sure they'll like you." She leaned against the doorway, looking at him, as though she had something to say but wasn't sure if she ought to say it.

Chip followed Aluna compliantly through the places, and then looked into his own office happily. A small but comfortable little slot. He thought it would do very well. Very well indeed. He just needed to check up on the computer connections and other programs and put up some passwords and then he'd be all safe and sound here in his little den...
He noticed Aluna remaining at the door, looking like she had something in her mind. He smiled to her encouragingly.
"Something in your mind, sweet-face?" he asked in his friendly manner.

Aluna stuck her head out of the door, looking around before coming back in and sitting on Chip's desk. "I just want you to know that I really, honestly don't care if you get involved with anyone here, including the kids. Well, as long as it's the older ones." She paused momentarily, studying his face. "Granted, maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but if you really are interested in Ace, just be careful. As much as I love that kid, and I do, he is my favourite, he's got more issues than New Yorker magazine. He's a tough one to figure out, and Princess honestly is no better. The two of them together are a little dangerous. But if things do go well, still just be careful with him. He tends to get a little too emotional over things at times, especially concerning the parents. Anyway, yeah I should just shut up now and go, you probably want to get to work figuring everything out. Don and Riley should be in the classroom next door, it's the computer lab. Don's office is through the lab door but to the right, while the class room is to the left. Good luck on your day, and remember to come see us at lunch." She slid off his desk and made her way to the door, pausing to look back at him and smile, hoping she hadn't said too much.

Chip blinked at the flood of information and it took a moment for him to regroup his thoughts. But he was thankful she'd said it - after all, he was interested in Ace, and that meant he had to be interested in everything that came with him. He sighed in his mind as he smiled to her with one corner of his mouth. When would he stop being a sucker for damaged boys?
"Don't worry about me, Aluna," he told her kindly. "I'm a big boy. I can handle myself." He chuckled. "And I'll take care of your golden boy, if he lets me."
His brown eyes were solemn and calm, an expression not often found on his face. But he was serious now, for once. For a moment he wondered if he should ask her what she knew of the boy, then he thought there would be plenty of time to catch her on that topic, when he had settled in better.

Aluna smiled at his answer, still leaning on the door frame. "Good, because he needs someone to take care of him. If you ever find him getting bitchy on you, talk to me about it. He usually talks to me about all his problems, so chances are if he's playing you the rotten brat card, I'll probably know why." She winked and pushed herself up off the door. "Well then, I should be off, have my class to prepare for. I'll see you later!"

Chip nodded to her and wished her a good day. When she was gone, he walked around his desk, to sit in front of the computer. It was time to do some business.
