Ace couldn't help but smile when he heard Chip's answer. 24, seven years older than he was right now. He could handle that. He leaned against the door and stared at Chip, his eyes calculating and predatory. It was obvious to anyone watching that the wheels were definitely turning in Ace's head.
"Two years off, always better to look younger rather than older." Princess couldn't help now but giggle as Chip bowed to her. He was entertaining; he was also apparently trying to mask his interest in Ace by flirting with her too.
"So where was this boarding school, anyway? I'm curious about it." Ace crossed his arms as he leaned back, his lips turned ever so slightly up in a smile.

Chip let his eyes wander over to Ace as the boy leaned against the door. He felt the blonde's eyes on him pleasantly, and welcomed him to look more. Chip had a tendency to like being watched, especially by good-looking young men like Ace.
He was hoping the look in Ace's eyes meant he was actually interested. The blonde's smile certainly went straight through to his heart - or should that have been some inches lower? Well, he could only say he was touched.
Ace's question made him shrug, however.
"Away," he said. "Far. Old man wanted me as far as possible, so he could spend some quality time with his new bride." He made a face. "Who, by the way, is only some nine years older than I am."

Ace nodded, wondering more about the school but not wanting to press Chip just yet. "Which would make her older than my mother, actually. Quite young, mom is. I think she's making up for lost time now, since she never quite got to have that partying teenager stage with me around." Ace shrugged, looking away briefly before glancing back at Chip. "So I know exactly what it's like to be pushed away by the parents. As does Princi, actually. Though her mother pushed her away because she was a crazy nutcase, but the sentiment is still the same." Ace winked at Chip, remaining standing outside the school. He hoped the other wasn't exactly in a hurry to see the Principal, he was enjoying the chat.

Chip paid special attention to listening what Ace said about his mother, and Princess's parents, though on the outside he appeared to be taking the chat lightly. In fact, he was weaving a plan in his mind, as he always was, and he stored up all the bits and pieces of information Ace offered of his home life.
He nodded as he settled to stand close to Ace, a sympathetic look on his face - though not too sympathetic. He was sure Ace wouldn't want pity. Chip would not have had any to offer in any case. Just the understanding of another in the same situation.
"Life gets that way sometimes," he said, and nudged Princess in a friendly manner. "Don't worry though. I like nutcases." He grinned and then turned to look at Ace again. "And what about your old man? He not around no more?" he ventured to ask, hoping he wouldn't clamp up from the question. But it was all part of the test he was running on him.
He sighed inwardly at that metaphor of thought. He had been into programming too long.

Ace smiled at the mention of Princess' mother, wondering how she was taking it and whether or not she'd offer up any info right away. But when Chip asked about his father he mentally cursed himself, realizing he'd set himself up perfectly for this mess. "I haven't heard from him since I was 11. My parents got divorced and he just left." Not trusting himself to say anything further lest he choke and get all emotional, he left it at that.
Princess noticed Ace's distressed mood, wishing yet again that he could just get over his father leaving. But she knew that wasn't likely to happen. So she decided to distract any possibly repercussions coming from hi answer with a revelation of her own. "Actually it's perfectly fine even if you don't like nutcases, because she's dead. Died from cancer two years ago. Dad died in a boating accident when I was 9. So I live with my uncle now." She smiled and nodded, proud that she'd been able to just blurt it out so easily without getting upset. Maybe she was getting on with her life after all.

Ah, Chip thought to himself as he saw Ace not so comfortable talking about his father. Issues. Better avoid that topic for now.
He turned his attention willingly to Princess's little revelation, and managed a shocked expression.
"Well, I sure hope your uncle is better man than mine, then," he said to her, shuddering a little at the thought of Uncle Toby. "The sick bastard," he added under his breath, then smiled and shrugged. "I lost my mother when I was too young to really remember it," he said. "Old man doesn't talk about her much."
He thought it was safest to leave it at that, though for a moment he was at a loss of how to continue the conversation. He felt they had went too deep into personal matters for chatting to continue lightly.
"As for the boading school," he said in an attempt to break off from touchy topics, "if you're really interested, it was one of those all-boys-schools. Dan found it exceedinly dull. I never really had that many problems." He chuckled and looked at Ace with a smile. "I've always got along with other boys terribly well."
There was a touch of hint in his voice, though he chose not to make it too obvious. They would catch onto him by now if they were going to - and if they were as innocent as Sweets, he didn't even want to go any farther.

Ace pushed thoughts of his parents out of his mind, determined not to let them cast a shadow on his day. He listened to Chip mention getting along with other guys and winked at him, wondering if he was simply playing around like he did with Teddy, or if Chip actually was interested in him. Chip was a member of the staff, but Ace had no problem at all with breaking some rules. It wouldbe something to brag about anyway.
Princess looked up at Chip with a faint smile on her lips, knowing for certain now that he was interested in Ace. "I had a feeling you did," she replied to him, also winking. She looked over at Ace and grinned. "Blondie there tends to get along pretty well with both genders, don't you B?" Princess smirked as Ace looked at her, shrugging his shoulders.
"I guess you could say I do. I do have awfully high standards though, I must admit."

Chip grew more alert. Now, perhaps he had some hope after all. He hadn't had much company since university, and now he was beginning to really get desperate. He eyed Ace quite suggestively and decided to continue on his tracks. He doubted he could get into trouble from mere talk.
"I must admit I've got my standards too," he said with a smile curving one corner of his mouth.
Was he just imagining it or was the female actually pushing them together? He got slightly suspicious and became instinctively more aware of the knife attached to his leg before he managed to silence the impulse. He'd spent too long in the dark business. It was getting to him.

Ace smirked, his eyes meeting Chip's. "When it comes to high standards, you can't get much more perfect than me. Not only am I the hottest thing you'll see at this school, but I'm also the best athlete by far. I'm the captain of the soccer team, I have no doubt that I'll be playing professionally one day. If my parents hadn't moved here from Sweden, I'd probably be playing pro by now. I'm also extremely intelligent, one of the smartest kids in school, grades never go below 95. I drive the nicest car, wear the best clothes, and everyone is obsessed with me. So if you're looking for the top of the line, I'm it." He looked at Chip with a competitive gleam in his eyes, feeling inspired by the interest. Maybe this year would prove to have its interesting moments after all.
Princess continued to stand by the wall, watching the exchange and feeling giddy. Looks like it had been well worth it to not sleep through her free first period.

Chip raised an amused eyebrow at Ace's list. Well, at least you couldn't blame him for shyness. That appealed to Chip. It was nice for a change.
"I see," he said, a nice tingle in his limbs. Ace might have been full of self-promotion, but he sure was the hotter for it, to Chip at least. "Well, I've heard Swedes are the hottest people in the world but I didn't imagine they'd produce anything quite as top quality as you." He chuckled. "I'm afraid I can't brag with a European background, except to the extent that my folks are originally from Italy - well, their grandparents are, anyway. As for any other qualifications than what you can see..." his eyes glimmered, "you can find out for yourself, if you're interested."

Ace grinned, looking amused. "Nice to note that my shameless self-promotion doesn't bother you, I do tend to think quite highly of mysef. After all, if you don't love yourself, why would anyone else love you?" He remained leaning back against the wall, his arms crossed casually over his chest. "However, I should warn you that being so perfect, I am in rather high demand. So if you're really interested, you'll have to move quickly." He winked, glancing over at Princess who had a hand over her mouth, stifling a laugh. "Are we keeping you amused, Rincy?"
Nodding her head rather viggorously, Princess kept her hand clamped where it was, giving herself a moment to obtain control before speaking again. "You guys are really rather entertaining. If you do get together though, make sure you let me know so I can watch." Princess looked at Chip and winked.

Chip grinned at Princess.
"Just watch?" he asked in a teasing manner. Then he stepped closer to Ace and focused his attention on the blonde, his eyes very intent and his body just close enough to be hard to miss - though not close enough to be considered harassing, if someone happened to watch. "Actually, I'm known rather for moving... slowly..." He let his eyes go over Ace in an appreciating yet shameless manner, a clear meaning in his voice. "...and none of my... friends has complained over it yet."

Ace looked up into Chip's eyes, a sly smile on his lips. "Exactly what are you insinuating by that comment?" He was tempted to reach out and grab Chip, just for amusement's sake, but managed to control that desire. After all, he was the one to be chased, it was never the other way around, no matter how interested he actually was.

Chip lifted one corner of his mouth. He was sure he could see interest in the blonde's eyes. Maybe this morning wouldn't go to waste after all.
"I can demonstrate my meaning one night," he said with a chuckle. He wasn't about to use vulgar language to drive his point through. If Ace was as smart as he appeared to be, he'd catch on his meaning. He looked around the school yard meaningfully. "Outside school hours."
Now he regretted not getting himself an apartment yet. Even if the blonde would ever follow him up on his offer, where would he take him? Dan's place?
Well, now, actually, that was a thought. Dan was hardly ever there anyway.

"Really? You're proposing a student on your first day already, when you haven't even started the job yet? You just live for danger, don't you?" Ace smirked. "Where do you live? I don't venture into dangerous neighbourhoods on my own, you know." He contemplated telling Chip that he was free to drop by his place, but he didn't want to seem too eager. He'd see what Chip had to offer first.
