Chip held Ace tighter as well, reciprocating the kiss a bit wistfully. He smiled at his words.
"Oh, yes," he said with a mock-British accent, "we must return to the commoners." Then he gave a laugh and returned to his usual, slightly Italian-accented voice. "I shall miss the beach though. We should cuddle more often." He looked at Ace affectionately and kissed him on the forehead. "But don't worry about Vinnie or anything, sunlight. I'll keep you safe."
He wasn't sure why he said it, if not simply for the want of repeating his promise, to make sure he wouldn't forget.

Ace nodded at the mention of cuddling more, agreeing with that idea. When Chip mentioned protecting him from Vinnie though, Ace smiled and kissed him on the chin. "You better." Just hearing those words from Chip made him feel vulnerable, but happily vulnerable, knowing that he had someone to protect him.
He felt like staying and cuddling again, but he knew he really ought to be getting back to the group. "Okay, as much as it pains me to tear myself away from you, I guess we really should go now. Maybe after everything is done tonight though, you could come stay over at my place again. But this time we can sleep in my bed." He smiled up at Chip.

"My back and neck undoubtedly like that idea," Chip said with a wink, then kissed Ace on the forehead again. "I'd imagine Dan'll end up taking Bp home with him anyway, and I'd rather not be there with the two of them." Chip shifted a bit uncomfortably, not willing to disclose all the reasons why he felt uncomfortable with Dan+girlfriend. "I'm liberal, but the idea of another couple having sex in the next room has never made me feel very comfortable - at least if I don't have any company of my own."
He winked, then looked ahead and straightened his shoulders, taking his arms off Ace and wrapping the blanket better around him.
"All right, I suppose we are ready to go back now. I could use a cup of something hot, after all this bathing in the sea."

Ace smiled at Chip's comments, not picking up on any possible other reason for his discomfort over Dan and someone else. He himself was a little amused at the idea of Dan and BP together, wondering if Dan had any idea what he was getting into with her. "Can't say that I blame you really, BP can get a little wild after all." He refrained from mentioning that he knew this first hand, hoping that if Chip figured it out he wouldn't be upset by it.
They emerged back out on the beach and Ace paused to look around, not seeing anyone right away. "Yeah, looks like they all went inside. Which just means that I can get one more quick kiss in." Standing up on his toes, Ace planted his lips on Chip's, his hands holding onto the bigger male's shoulders. There was just a bit of excitement in being potentially seen after all.
(Okay, do you want to have them go inside now? Or should they run into anyone outside first? Orrr, Teddy and Sweetheart just got there, right? Do you think it would be a little interesting to have them see Ace and Chip, or would they be too caught up in each other?)

Chip chuckled a little to what Ace said about Bp. Oh, yes. Very wild. It just occurred to him he really knew nothing about Bp. Ace obviously knew - Chip wondered in passing just how personally. Somehow, the thought that Ace had been with the girl didn't bother him. He'd known that before they began, hadn't he? And then again... he was with Ace now. What did it matter who he had been with before him?
As they emerged and Ace concluded so quickly that there was no one there, Chip was about to say something, that they shouldn't be so careless, but Ace had already turned to kiss him, and at that point it felt useless to Chip to hold back. Ah well there probably wasn't anyone there anyway.
He wrapped his arms round the boy and held him close, closing his eyes as he kissed him.
No one had made him do that since Flash - close his eyes while kissing. It didn't even cross his mind at that moment, nor did he think what it meant.

Ace pulled away slowly from Chip, his eyes closed as well as he savoured the last moment of the embrace. As he turned back to look at the beach he froze upon seeing that they had indeed been spotted. "I think I was wrong..." He looked a little in the distance at Teddy and Sweetheart, who were currently looking at them. What would they think? He had a feeling Teddy wouldn't mind much, it might invoke a little curiousity over his actions of earlier that day at the most. But Sweetheart? Did she even know Chip was gay? He knew she probably never would have expected to see him kissing another guy seriously. Starlight briefly flashed into his head. What would happen there? Things between them had recently improved dramatically but would Sweetheart say anything to her friend? He had a feeling if Starlight found out about this she'd be crushed. Would Sweetheart say anything to her? Had Starlight even told her friend that her relationship with Ace was in the process of being re-kindled? There were so many thoughts suddenly racing through his head that he wasn't sure how to react, he just stood there looking very guilty.

"I think I was wrong..."
Those words entered Chip's consciousness just as he was slowly, reluctantly, returning back on earth from the bliss of the kiss. His eyes flew open and grew just a little larger as he spotted Sweetheart and Teddy as well.
Oh oh.
Sweetheart didn't know. Chip knew she didn't know. They hadn't dared to tell her, because of her religious convictions, they'd assumed she wouldn't understand. And she might blabber.
And worse, there was a totally unexpected factor - Teddy. Chip knew of him only what Sweetheart and Dan had told him. Dan had kept badmouthing the boy while Sweetheart had praised his wonderfulness and sweetness. And from the show earlier he'd understood Teddy was Ace's friend. How would he take this?
Still, his main concern was with Sweetheart. The girl wasn't always so wise, and terrible at keeping secrets, he knew that well.
Chip had grown quite pale as these thoughts went through his mind, and he couldn't understand how he could have allowed this to happen.

As Sweetheart spoke, Teddy followed her gaze to where the two men stood. He had looked just in time to catch the kiss.
"Surprise, surprise." The boy's voice was full of sarcasm as he smiled. It had been obvious to him that there was something going on between Ace and Chip, but now he knew for sure.
"Ah well, you know what they say..." He raised his hand and waved to the two men off in the distance. "Boys will be boys."

Sweetheart was too astonished to reply to Teddy. Too astonished to do much anything but stare.
The fact was, she wasn't so shocked over Chip kissing a guy as she was over the fact that it was Ace he was kissing. She remembered what Starlight had told her when they had talked just recently. That things might be looking up for her and Ace. That they had talked... and that everything seemed like... they might even get back together. Star hadn't said so much, but it was clearly implied. Sweetheart bit her lip as she stared right into Chip and Ace. Especially Ace. Why had he led Starlight on that way if he was... was...
Her eyes went to Chip. She wanted, wanted so much to understand. Wanted to be as liberal as everyone around her seemed to be. But some things remain deep. She couldn't understand. Not right away. Did Dan know? Her head was spinning.
"But all boys... are not like some other boys," she whispered, with a stunned voice rather than anything else, by way of a halfway answer to Teddy, still too shocked to make any more sense.
Chip saw Sweetheart's face. He had no idea of what was going on in her head - about Starlight especially - but he was worried for his own secret. He couldn't answer to Teddy's wave.
"Sweetheart doesn't know," he said very, very quietly so that only Ace could hear him. "We never told her... we didn't think... she would understand. She doesn't mean bad... but we didn't think she would understand."

Ace was still in shock when he saw Teddy wave at them, having a feeling that his friend was more amused than anything else. But when he saw the look Sweetheart was giving him he knew that Starlight must have said something to her about them.
Not looking at Chip but continuing to stare back at Sweetheart, Ace was snapped out of his surprise by Chip's comment. "Well, she'd better keep her mouth shut." He moved away from Chip, walking over to meet the other two, focused on talking to Sweetheart. By no means was he about to let her screw anything up. Stopping before her he fixed her with a look that was equal parts displeasure and authority. "You and I need to talk."

Chip raised a brow as Ace went to Sweetheart. He had planned to talk to the girl himself, but when Ace took the lead he remained quiet at the back, a little curious as to how he was going to handle the situation. It seemed to him that it was almost an entirely different Ace he saw from the one he knew for the most of the time.
Sweetheart looked at Ace, a little intimidated by his straightforward approach, but she was still a little huffed about what he seemed to be doing to her best friend, so she held her stance. She did step a little closer to Teddy, however.
"I should say so," she said, just a little accusingly, and might have said more, but she suddenly found herself without words. What if she was wrong after all? What if Starlight had not really meant what she thought she had meant?

Teddy knew this side of Ace all too well. He had seen the blonde verbally bitch slap more people than he dared count. And because of that, he knew better than to get involved. Besides, Sweetheart seemed pissed off about something as well. Maybe he was just too laid back to understand.

Ace glanced briefly at Teddy, pleased that he wasn't about to step in. Locking his eyes back on Sweetheart's, he stood with his hands on his hips, looking every bit like someone who expected everyone else to not challenge him. "If you know what's good for you, Sweetheart, you will not speak a word of this to Starlight." He knew exactly how he was going to go about talking her into keeping her mouth shut this time and was just waiting to see if she would require his explanation, or if she was going to be smart and back down from the confrontation.

Chip raised the other eyebrow as well when he heard what Ace said. Then he frowned. He was surprised to find himself resenting that particular approach Ace took toward Sweetheart. He had known Sweetheart practically all his life. Not only was she Dan's little sister, he was practically a little sister to Chip as well. He knew how easily the girl could be intimidated.
Inwardly he also felt that Teddy wasn't doing all he should have if he really cared for Sweetheart, if he didn't step out for her.
For the time being, he chose to only watch - as his heart was torn between the need to keep the secret and the love for Ace on one hand and the worry over Sweetheart on the other.
Sweetheart's eyes went a little wider. She had always been a little careful with Ace, and had never really know how to say no to anyone... and she certainly didn't want to become a problem. But right now it seemed like what he was doing wasn't really truly right and she couldn't just leave it at that.
"Why?" she asked, though not so much confrontationally as something in between timid and defiant.

As Ace spoke, Teddy found himself getting a little worked up. Had the blonde been confronting anyone other than Sweetheart, he wouldn't have cared.. but this time around it bothered him.
Looking down at Ace, he gave the boy a shockingly cold glare that sent a warning his way. He hadn't meant for it to happen, but it had. And oddly enough, Teddy was capable of being very intimidating when mad.
