(Okay, let's say that they cuddled for a little bit and didn't talk, and now Ace has calmed down significantly after crying a little and is ready to be social again;)
Hugging Chip one final time and kissing him on the chin, Ace pulled away from the older male and sat up. "Thanks." He looked out briefly at the water, then back the way they had come from. Maybe it was time that they ought to be getting back to the others, at least for a little while.
"I suppose I should get dressed now. I don't think I've ever been naked for so long in front of someone." He looked over at Chip and winked. "You're just breaking all kinds of records today." He began pulling on his clothing, his mind feeling at ease. It had been comforting to lay with Chip for a while.

[[good with me. ]] Chip smiled and rolled onto his back when Ace sat up. He leaned onto his elbows and looked up at the boy, grinning at what he said. "Of course I am," he said with a chuckle. "What else could the best do but break records?" He gave a laugh and sat up himself. "So, what do you want to do? Go back to the party?" He was slightly unwilling to go back into public. It had been such a nice moment, and he rather enjoyed being like this with Ace, even if the boy had been crying half the time.

Ace smiled at Chip as he made his comment, shaking his head slightly. Chip was definitely good for him. As much as he enjoyed being alone with him, he did want to get back to the others, specifically Sparky. Not only did she need to get his measurements for his costume, but she'd also delight in hearing about their little fun in the sand. He'd just leave out the unhappy stuff.
As he pulled his tank top over his head he looked down at Chip. "We should go back, I do need to make an appearance so I can get measured for my costume after all. And I'll have to take the majority of my clothes off to do that, so you might want to be there for that." He winked at Chip and finished adjusting his shirt. "So come on, we can be all cuddly again later, maybe tonight after the party or something. If you're not busy, that is." He smiled coyly at Chip, waiting for the other to get up and join him.

Chip grinned as he pushed himself up on his feet, practically with one smooth motion. He indeed had a good physique. As an afterthought, he was glad he had left his knife home that night. He wasn't sure if he wanted to let Ace know about it just yet.
[[in truth, I forgot it for a moment, but it's just as well because he knew they were going to the beach so he wouldn't be stupid enough not to count on him possibly having to take his clothes off and he doesn't want everyone seeing the knife.]]
He put his own clothes on smoothly - all of them. After all, they were already wet after the little "swim" Vinnie had offered him. He picked the blanket up from the ground and threw it around his shoulders, and then he grabbed Ace's shoulder and pulled him closer, under the same blanket.
"I wouldn't miss that for the world," he said and winked.

Ace smiled when Chip pulled him under the blanket with him, his arms going around Chip's waist as he kissed him lightly on the neck. "I'm happy to hear that." He really did want to spend some more time alone with Chip later, maybe he'd invite him to stay over for the night. This time though, they'd sleep in his bed and not on the couch.
Taking Chip's hand he started pulling him back toward the path. "Come on, let's go. I need to snag Sparky before she gets too busy. You plan on getting dressed up as anything special for the holiday?" He was actually quite excited about his costume, knowing that Sparky would make him look as hot as ever.

Chip felt nice, with Ace's arm around his waist and the boy's kiss warm on his neck. Yes, this was as it should be. He let Ace pull him with him toward the path, and smiled to his question.
"Oh, yes," he said and grinned. "I'm afraid I'm going to be horribly traditional, though. I'm going as a vampire. LeStat, perhaps. The Tom Cruise version." He had to laugh to the mention of Tom Cruise, recalling everything related to Cruise and his old friend Colorado. He looked at Ace with a chuckle when he realised that he was laughing apparently without a reason. "I'm sorry, it's just that Colorado and I have a bit of a history about me being Tom Cruise. Do be honest though - is there a resemblance?" He made his best Top Gun Tom Cruise -face.

Ace shook his head when Chip made the Tom Cruise face, reaching up to kiss him on the lips. "No. But then maybe that has something to do with the fact that when I think of Tom Cruise, I think of the total nutcase he's turned out to be these days. I don't really want to be with someone who reminds me of someone that crazy."
He opened the gate that led to the path that would take them back to the beach. "As for me, I will be parading around in my hot Egyptian Pharoah outfit Sparky's making me. She has the whole thing drawn out, even my make-up! She's trying to convince me to dye my hair black for the night, to match the dark eye-make up she's giving me. I don't know though. I am excited about the costume, I'll probably be wearing less than most of the girls." He winked at Chip, very excited about his costume.

Chip gave a laugh at what Ace said about Tom Cruise. Well he didn't care much for the older version, but he and Collie had been such fans of his movie performances younger. In general, he didn't really care about what actors were like in real life, he was only interested in their performances.
He grinned when Ace mentioned going as a pharaoh.
"Ooh, well now, you're going to be the king of the whole party then, won't you?" He smiled. "And I shall have the honour of prowling for pharaoh's blood, shan't I? I don't know about the hair though. It would take forever to grow out, and I rather like my little ray of sunlight just the way he is."
Chip smiled and was about to say something more, when suddenly a fast-beat melody burst out from his pocket.
"Oh, shit!" he exclaimed when he realised it was his cell phone. "Does nothing kill these things? Christ, it fell in the water and yet it works!" He laughed, though, as he pulled the cell out. It was cased in a holder that apparently resisted water better than the commercial had promised. He shook his head when he saw the name flashing on the screen. "Mans, it's my old man. I think I'd better answer, or he'll just keep calling."
He clicked the button and raised the phone to his ear.
"Yeah," he said, knowing full well his father would recognise his voice. "What do you want?"
There was a short silence in the other end.
"You okay?" Mario's voice then asked. "Vinnie was just here, he told me you got into a fight or something."
Chip grimaced.
"Yeah, I'm okay, though no thanks to that idiot. He threw me in the sea, did he tell you that too? And he left me there, if it wasn't for these nice people I'd be dead by now. I'm telling you, if he's still alive when I see him..."
"Quit it," Mario's voice interrupted him harshly. "He told me you had practically thrown him out the family first."
"What?" Now Chip's face was angry, and his voice too. "I fucking told him he can't take a fucking joke, and... what the fuck has he been telling you anyway?"
"He told me enough. I don't see why you'd keep that kind of friends, either. It's a student party, isn't it? What are you doing there, anyway? He said you were hanging out with some gay people or something."
A cold shiver ran through Chip's spine, and he glanced at Ace with such a guilty look that it could not be mistaken. He was happy his father couldn't see him. He managed to keep his voice calm.
"Dad, I'm just hanging out with friends. Dan's here too, you know. There's a group of guys, and you shouldn't listen to Vinnie anyway. That guy's a total psycho, you know he nearly killed me..."
"Well if you didn't pick a fight with him all the time, maybe he would behave better. You know what he's been through, Chip, you know he can get more hotheaded than what's good for him..."
"What?" Chip practically shouted now, and threw the blanket off his shoulders. He was so hurt and angry now that he forgot entirely who he was with. "Vinnie fucking nearly kills your son, and you're taking his side?"
"I'm not taking any sides." Mario's voice sounded angry. "You come home right now, and we'll settle this within the family. Have you any idea what kind of a mess this is going to cause with the Rosaccis, if Tin gets upset about the boat?"
"The boat?!! What the fuck does this have to do with the fucking boat?" Chip stopped himself before he went too far. "Look, I'm not coming anywhere. I'm not a kid anymore, dad. You don't tell me what to do or who to hang out with. Besides, Dan's here too. Are you gonna tell him come home as well? What would your precious Tin say about that?"
There was a short silence in Mario's end, then the man spoke again, with a rather strained voice.
"Fine. But you're coming here tomorrow, and you sort this out with Vinnie."
"Yeah, whatever," Chip snapped and hung up. For a moment he felt like throwing the phone into the sea, but he restrained himself. Instead, he crossed his arms over his chest, the phone still in his hand, staring angrily to the sea, trying to calm himself. He had rarely been so angry or so hurt. He had nearly drowned, and his father was defending Vinnie? Well, that just shows how much he cares, doesn't it? he thought to himself bitterly.

Ace listened to the one-sided conversation, only able to imagine what Chip's father was saying. Whatever it was, it must not be good. When the conversation ended and Chip just stood there looking angry, Ace reached out and laid his hand on Chip's arm. "Well I guess I finally get a glimpse of your family." He didn't say anything else, not really sure how to react to Chip being so angry.

Chip continued staring into the ocean, his jaw set, then looked down at his feet. He brushed his other hand over his tempel, looking suddenly very tired instead of angry. He sighed and stuck the phone into his pocket, then turned to wrap an arm round Ace's shoulders and look at the boy. A smile returned to his face. Fuck with his father.
"That's just Mario for you," he said with a shrug. "He's just so damned worried about his friendship with Dan's dad... you know, Tin might think Vinnie stole the boat or something, I don't know... and he keeps thinking whatever goes wrong it's always my fault. He's always had a soft spot for his sister, and Vinnie's her son so... I don't know." He frowned a bit and his eyes slipped down again. He knew he probably wasn't making any sense and leaving half of the story untold. "Yeah, Vinnie got to tell him his side of the story first. Whatever."
He didn't want to tell Ace that his father had heard about him. He didn't want to scare the boy all over again.
"Nevermind, I'll sort it out."

Ace listened, knowing the signs well that there was obviously some hurt feelings between Chip and his father. Knowing how bad that felt and knowing that Chip most likely wasn't about to tell him anything and he wasn't about to pressure him after their day, he just hugged Chip and kissed him on the lips. "Let's forget about your father for the day. You can deal with him tomorrow. Today your only problem to deal with is me." Ace slid his hands up Chip's chest and neck, cupping his cheeks and kissing him again. "And I don't think my problems will be all that problematic anymore today."

Chip's smile was genuine by the time Ace kissed him. He wrapped his arms round the boy's waist and hugged him tight against his body.
"That's good to know," he said, then reached down to kiss Ace on the lips, very gently, rather with care than with passion. Then he smiled down to the boy. "I do love you, you know." He just wanted to say it again. To remember it, and push away any thoughts of his father or of anything else unpleasant.
Chip's smiled extended to a grin as he started to get a hold of himself again.
"You know, I definitely could use a cup of tea and some dry place, and you absolutely have to get that dress of yours measured." There was a glint in his eyes - Ace had mentioned something about taking his clothes off in the measuring process, after all. "But don't you dare let her talk you into dying your hair. I couldn't stand you black-haired. Besides, Egyptians all wore wigs anyway, so it would be unrealistic." He winked.

Ace smiled when Chip spoke, definitely taking the time to properly appreciate the comment this time and not screwing it up. "I love you too." They turned and continued on their way back to the main area, a grin on his face as he listened to Chip.
"She's not making me a dress! It'll probably end up just being a skirt with some fancy stuff on my arms, knowing Sparky. Expose as much of the body as possible, you know. And don't worry about the hair, there is such a thing as temporary hair dye, you know. It would only be for the night, you can wash it out in the morning." Ace could see the beach area now, wondering if everyone had gone inside yet. Did he want everyone to see he and Chip being so affectionate? What if anyone else had shown up since they'd been on their own?

Chip smiled.
"Well, if it's just for the night then I suppose I can grant you the permission to dye your hair," he said with a wink. Then he looked at the beach area that was coming into view, and grew more serious. His mind was going on a similar track to Ace's. He wasn't sure how openly affectionate they could afford to be. Dan was no problem, but there were a lot of other people out there as well. Mostly from the school. That could be a problem. He frowned. "I'm not sure if it's a smart idea to... be too obvious out there," he said with a quieter voice.

Ace nodded, "that's just what I was about to say. I'm not too worried about anyone who I know was here, but more people may have shown up and some of the people who are here, yeah it still might not be a good idea." Ace frowned as he thought about it. He realized that half the people here today, even though he felt like they were good friends, didn't really know him that well anymore nor did they know much about him. Would it damage his reputation if anyone actually knew that he was having serious relations with another guy? While he liked to say that he didn't care what anyone thought, he knew that was a lie. He didn't really care too much about what they thought, but he did care about reactions. He wasn't looking for anymore drama than he already had.
Standing in front of Chip, Ace reached up and kissed him on the lips, his arms tightening around Chip's waist and his body pressing tightly to his. "Well then, I suppose one last romantic snuggle before we enter the public domain again." He winked at Chip.
