Chip gave a laugh at Patria's and Jan's words and winked to Jan.
"Don't think I won't," he answered and then looked at Ace. "I thought about having a go at the Reflections. I haven't been there in the longest of times." He smiled to the blonde his most charming smile. "And I'd love to have some company."
He couldn't help being a little surprised that Patria was letting Ace go just like that, though. The boy had a school morning the next day, after all. He would have thought she wouldn't have liked Ace staying up late. But apparently she didn't keep a strict discipline on her boy.

Ace looked thoughtful for a moment, before nodding his head in consent. "Reflections it is, I haven't been there in a while either, actually." He pushed his chair back and stood up.
"While I know you're ridiculously responsible, I still must do my motherly duty and tell you to make sure you get your ass to bed at a reasonable time. I'll actually be home tonight, so be a dear and make me some breakfast in the morning, would you?" Patria grinned and stood up as well, putting an arm around Ace.
"Oh stop it, you don't have to put on a show because others are here. If we were alone you'd tell me to stay out all night and take tomorrow off pretending to be sick, so you could take the day off work and we could go shopping." Patria looked as though she were about to protest, before Ace grinned and shook his finger at her. "Don't you deny it, you know it's true."
Patria laughed, leaning her head against his. "Alright fine, I'm a horrible mother! You do whatever makes you happy, love, I know you'd never make a bad decision." She kissed his cheek, her arm still around his shoulders. Through it all Jan had paid the cheque, also rising to his feet.
"Well then," Ace looked at Chip, "we should be going, and you old folk should be getting to bed." Ace kissed Patria on the cheek, hugging her with both arms before letting her go to leave with Chip.

Chip watched with a smile as Ace and Patria behaved cutely, his attention consumed into it too much to notice Jan paid for them. By the time he noticed it it was already too late, so he let it slide. Being an Italian, he was used to the lenient way of paying bills, anyway - whoever got there first would do it. It was a contest with them, really.
He smiled once more to Patria and Jan when Ace was done hugging his mother.
"It was nice meeting you two," he said and looked at Patria meaningfully. "And don't think I won't hold you to your promise about taking me along to that pampering weekend of yours."
He winked to her, blew her a kiss and then looked at Ace, starting to walk away.
"A wonderful mother you have," he noted to him as they walked, happy that he'd decided to come with him. He contemplated on wrapping an arm around him, but decided against it. Never in public. One of his old man's friends might have seen them, and made all too correct conclusions - albeit that it was the Italian way to make a lot of body contact. And he wasn't sure what Ace would have thought of it in any case.

Patria smiled at Chip, "I'll let Ace fill you in on the details once we figure them out about that, it was lovely indeed to meet you." Patria and Jan remained by the table as Ace left with Chip.
"Yeah, she's great. All of my friends who've met her are insanely jealous, I just lucked out on all aspects in life when I was born." They left the restaurant and started walking north, up toward the entertainment district. "So, are you really into going to the spa? None of my male friends will ever indulge me. I got Chase to come with me once but it's not his thing, so that once was the only time. It's so unfortunate, I wouldn't want to live without my weekly visits." Ace laughed, his thumbs hooking on the back belt loops of his jeans.

Chip gave a laugh.
"Well, if an old guy like me will do, I'd be happy to accompany you anytime." He winked. "I happen to love spas and all sorts of self-indulging like that. I just haven't had much of an opportunity for that lately. The boarding school didn't exactly offer niceties like that, and uni was little better." He smiled. "Of course, Dan's family owns this pretty villa up in Italy and every time we go there we get to go into these old-fashioned Roman spas. It's really great."

"You're not that old, at least not yet. You still have a few years left in you I'm sure." Ace grinned, glancing at Chip. "Maybe not too many years, but a few years nonetheless." They were in the entertainment district now, the streets filling up with people heading out for the night. Some looked rather dressy, some looked a little grungy, but there were a lot of people and made for quite a bit of interesting scenery. Reflections wasn't too far now, just up the road, you could practically hear the music already.
Checking to ensure there were no cars coming, they crossed the road, walking up to the club. There was already a bit of a line, but Ace looked at Chip and grinned. "Oh, to be stuck in a lineup. Must suck." He stopped before one of the bouncers, smiling and giving a small wave. "Red, long time no see!"
Once Red, the bouncer, noticed Ace he smiled and looked him over. "Cute highlights in the hair, blondie. They're so feminine."
"Shut up, they bring out my cheekbones." Red smirked, nudging the other bouncer, who he whispered to. Ace frowned at both of them, "stop talking about me damn it. Anyway, this is Chip, a new friend of mine."
Red and his friend looked at Chip, nodding in greeting. "Nice to meet you, well then you guys might as well go on in, have a good night and we'll see you later!" Ace walked past them, heading into the club.
(since you've seen Queer As Folk, we'll say that Reflections looks like Babylon on the inside, okay?)

[[yeah, fine by me - but we probably should move now to the Reflections on a new thread, shouldn't we?]]
Chip wasn't really surprised that Ace knew the bouncer. It seemed to him Ace knew almost everyone. And everyone seemed to like him - to an extent, anyway. He was a little uneasy about the way Red and the other bouncer whispered to each other, but chose to ignore it. He nodded in greeting to Red and the other bouncer, smiling with one corner of his mouth.
"Thanks," he said shortly and then followed Ace. His feet were itching for the dance floor.
[[cont in the Reflections?]]
