Sweetheart stopped, blinking. She had actually managed not to notice Ace and Teddy and BP. She skitted to a halt and turned around at Ace's familiar voice, a smile rising to her lips. When she saw Teddy and BP there, too, her smile died, however, and she had to do all she could to keep a calm appearance.
"Sorry, Ace," she said. "Didn't notice you guys." She forced up a smile to Teddy's and BP's direction, though there was a great sadness in her eyes. "Hello." She simply could not imagine what else she ought to have said. Then she realised what Ace had just said and felt a little hot all over. "No, you misunderstand, Ace. That's not my... boyfriend. That was my brother." She was slightly huffed for her brother's behalf, though she honestly didn't understand what on earth he saw in that silly vehicle in the first place. "And don't make fun of his bike. It's a classic." She grew a little uncertain and her ears blushed. "Or so he tells me."

[[here I assume they've got the same system as we used to in our school back when I was in high school - that they're dealt out the keys during first weeks of school. If I'm wrong and she's not supposed to have the key yet, feel free to correct me.]]
At the same time, a third female figure was walking down the corridor. Her attention was completely fixed on her books, which she carried in her arms, and the key. She was trying to determine what number was scribbled on the key, and so she did not notice who she was walking towards. She approached the little group from behind Ace's back, with her golden curls floating around her in a swirl. She had decided upon letting her natural curls flow freely. It was more attractive that way.
Not that Starlight especially wanted to be attractive. She was more concerned about being professional. So obviously the hair decision had taken her a long time. In the end it had been her mother who had chosen for her, and did her hair in her professional sort of way so that they were tied and yet descended from the top of her head in wonderful curls. Starlight had been satisfied, and headed for school.
She only noticed Ace when she was happy that the number really was 113 and that her locker should have been right...
...there...
...where...
...Ace was standing. She swallowed and stopped, not willing to go ahead to him. She wondered what he was doing there, leaning on the lockers as he was. He did not have a locker there, did he? Fate could not be that cruel to her, could it?

Ace grinned at Sweetheart's comment, noting the sad look in her eyes as she'd looked at Teddy and BP. It was really rather horrid of him to take such delight in the pain of others, but he'd take horrid and amused over not-horrid and unamused any day.
"Right, vintage. Give me brand new, top-of-the-line any day. Vintage is only for poor people who can't afford anything else." There was a mischievous gleam in Ace's eyes as he made his comment, his look directed at Teddy. While he knew the other boy never took offense to his remarks, he still enjoyed making them.
As he was awaiting a reply he heard the sound of someone walking right behind him, but noticed the person stop. Not hearing anything else he turned around, a look of shock registering on his face only briefly. It was quickly turned into one of arrogance and dislike.
"Can I help you with something, or are you just gazing at me to torment yourself with the knowledge that you no longer have the most sought-after guy in school?" Turning his body so that he faced Starlight, Ace remained leaning against his locker and the one beside it.

Sweetheart was just about to answer something she hoped would be pointed on behalf of Teddy - and her brother - but when Ace turned away, she followed his gaze over to Starlight, who was standing a little ways off. Sweetheart's expression became one of worry and concern over her friend. She knew how the break-up of Starlight and Ace had hurt her, and would have wished she could have helped somehow. She was terribly angry at Ace for being so mean to her. And immediately regretted it. She didn't like being angry at anyone.
Starlight, for her behalf, did not have any problem with being angry, especially at Ace. Her eyes flashed as he taunted her, and she walked briskly up, to her own locker.
"Don't flatter yourself, Ace," she said icily. "The only one who's ever loved you is you. I'm just looking for my locker."
She looked directly past Ace as though he didn't even exist and smiled to Sweetheart.
"Hi, Sweets," she said with a more cheerful voice. "How was your summer?"
Sweetheart swallowed and glanced to Ace, and then to Starlight again, trying to smile but unable to speak. Oh, how she hated these situations.

Teddy and Bp hadn't noticed the loud roar of Dandy's bike, or much else for that matter. They were far too wrapped up in trying to figure out where the hell their lockers were.
At the sound of a familiar voice, Teddy looked up at Sweetheart. Bp did the same. In unison they spoke. "Hey." Teddy gave a genuine smile, along with Bp. She knew the girl didn't like her, and it bothered her slightly. But she couldn't blame her, or hold it against her.
As Ace continued to be a real ass, the two simply leaned back against the lockers. Teddy chuckled at Ace's comment about classic cars and poor people. He was right about that. But he still loved his junk mobile.
Bp was about to tell Ace to stop being a dick to Starlight when the girl made a comment about no one loving Ace. At that instant, she closed her mouth and gave a look of irritation. Teddy took this opportunity to speak up. "That is where you are mistaken. I love Ace." Looking at the blonde, he winked seductively.

Ace froze at Starlight's words, their impact probably much stronger than she had intended. If it hadn't been for Teddy's timely comment, Ace probably would have walked back out to his car and left. Instead he looked graciously at the other boy, returning his wink.
"My charm must be rubbing off on you, Teddy. Mind you that's not the only thing that'll be rubbing if you keep up with those words." Turning his gaze from Teddy back to Starlight, he watched as she went about opening her locker.
"You have got to be kidding me. You have 113? What god has cursed me this year?" Ace sighed dramatically, then put on a charming smile. "Well then ex-love, looks like we're fixing to be neighbours all year long. So just be a sweetheart and smile in the morning, you don't make for nice scenery when you're all grumpy." Ace smirked, over his sudden devastation caused by her earlier comment.

Starlight, of course, would regret her comment afterwards - she always did. But why did he have to be so mean? She had tears in her throat but she did not let them come up, let alone show. She sighed mentally as he talked about them having lockers next to one another. She had thought she would focus on good things this year. Focus on studying. And there he would be, every morning, smiling that annoying smile of his, and flirting with every arse that walked by. She wished he'd just stick his head inside one and keep it there.
But she put up her sweetest smile to him and shrugged. Though his smile still got to her. Deep inside. And suddenly she couldn't say the words she had intended to.
Sweetheart felt better when Teddy spoke. She looked at him with a fond smile. He was such a good heart. What Ace said soon, however, made her look at him in a bit weary way. Would these people never think about anything else except... that sort of things. Being a nice girl, Sweetheart wouldn't even think out the word. Though she had to admit that every time she saw Teddy she did think about it, a little. And with Ace, you couldn't avoid it. She wondered a little that with him flirting with everyone, would he flirt with her too, though he must have known that his charm wouldn't work on her. At least she wanted to think it wouldn't. Besides, she was Starlight's friend, after all. He wouldn't hit on Starlight's friend, would he?
Starlight had finally managed to get her thoughts in order, after a moment's pause. She was a little melted by his smile, however. She couldn't help herself.
"I'll smile if you will, darling," she said in a bit more conciliatory voice. What was the point in fighting all year? And she did feel bad about her words. It wasn't even true.

Teddy purred. "I can only hope." Pale eyes sparkled. It went without argument that Teddy was one of the straightest guys in the school, but for some reason Ace made him think things that he just shouldn't. As well as Sweetheart. She just had that girl next door look to her that can drive a man crazy.
Looking down at Bp, he smiled. He had to stop thinking before his buddy down under decided to rear his pretty little head.

Ace grinned back at Teddy upon hearing his comment, blowing the other boy a kiss and winking seductively. Even though he knew Teddy was straight, which was unfortunate as he himself had recently found that males could be just as attractive and entertaining as females, he still enjoyed the casual flirting that surfaced between them. It was odd, the way his straight-as-nails male friends never seemed to back down from his flirtatious nature. It sometimes made him wonder if they were all keeping something from him.
Turning his attention back to Starlight he grinned. "I'm always smiling, Starly," Ace replied, using what had been his favourite nickname for her while they'd been together. He just couldn't resist the temptation to bring up more painful memories. After all, he did have to pay her back for the first remark she'd made to him.

"Damn Ace..." Teddy bit his lower lip and smirked. "You've got to stop doing shit like that. What will everyone think?" Trying his best to seem amused, he knew that the other boy would pick up on his rising... emotions.
Bp simply shook her head. Those two could be horrible at times. Deciding to exclude herself from the group now, she smiled and removed herself from the lockers. "I'm gonna get going. Y'all enjoy eachother's company now." Flashing a smile, the alicorn walked away from the group. She was hoping to see a few more people before class anyway.

Sweetheart watched the conversation from aside, as usual. She didn't like imposing herself. As something went on between Ace and Teddy, she recalled to her mind Dan's old buddy Chip and wondered a little sarcastically if she should have introduced him to Ace, if he really seemed to be after male company so much.
When Bp left, she tried to smile back to her. She didn't really dislike her, or she didn't want to, and she thought her own jealousy was ridiculous. She wanted to say something cheerful and friendly to her, but couldn't think of anything in time, so she ended up watching her go quietly.
Starlight had been putting her books into her locker, only choosing the ones she knew she'd need on the next lesson, listening to Ace and Teddy talk with half an ear. She was thinking to herself, a little amused, that they should try it out together sometime. Oddly enough, Starlight didn't get so jealous over the idea of Ace with other guys as she did over him with other girls. Maybe it was because she figured being with a guy was always different from being with a girl and they didn't compare. It was a weird thought, and she lost herself pondering it over until Ace spoke to her again.
The nickname made her shiver. He was the only one to call her Starly, at least nowadays. She was stricken with pain more than anger this time, and she said nothing for a while, hardly even noticed Bp's departure. When Teddy went on about replying to Ace's seductions, Starlight decided she didn't owe him an answer that time. She had to regroup a bit, so she fell silent for a while.

Ace pushed himself away from the locker, slinging an arm around Teddy's shoulder and leaning his head against the other's. "People always talk all kinds of crap about me, might as well be something a bit more exciting this time." As BP excused herself Ace waved goodbye to her, watching her walk away for a moment before returning his gaze back to Starlight. He was just about to make another comment to her before he felt a hand pinch his cheek.
"Just look at the two of you, you guys been keeping something from the rest of us?" Princess grinned at the boys before finally noticing Starlight. She glanced at Ace, her grin widening at his expression. Putting a hand on Ace's arm in a bit of a possessive gesture, she spoke to Starlight.
"Hey Star, long time no see! Have a nice summer?" If there was one person at Meadowbrook High who enjoyed watching others squirm more than Ace, it was Princess.

A shiver ran down the teen's spine. Ace had made physical contact with him numerous times, and never has it had an effect quite like this on him.
Teddy smirked, despite the conflict taking place in his mind. Why did this have to be happening now? Lucky for him, his pants wouldn't give away his secret. Well, not unless he pressed himself against the blonde.
Before he had a chance to think it over, Princess arrived on the scene. Teddy gave the girl a smile and a wink. He knew Star was in for a rough ride now. Poor girl.
Deciding to distract himself from the conversation, Teddy pressed up against Ace for a moment. There was a look in his eyes that told the blonde not to make a verbal comment.

Starlight nearly physically bristled at Princess's arrival. Now, if there was one person in the entire town who she really loathed, it was her. Truth be told, she never really could hate Ace, but Princess... well, now, she was her real enemy. If she hadn't come shaking her pretty little bottom at Ace, none of this would have happened.
Or, at least, Starlight thought, everything wouldn't have become so bad. She stared at Princess, her eyes narrowing into slits, and she closed and locked her locker with a clang.
"I did have a nice summer, thank you very much," she said icily. "Now it's obviously over, since you are here again." For a moment she considered leaving the scene, but then she decided against it. After all, she didn't want to appear as though Princess had driven her away.

Sweetheart felt herself excluded and very lonely. She hadn't anything to say to the others, and they obviously had nothing to say to her. All she could do was look at Teddy and wonder where all that closeness had gone from between them. She couldn't tell. All she knew was that she missed him, just talking with him if nothing else. She missed talking with everyone, in fact. It felt to her she had not had true friends in such a long time, save for her brother, perhaps, and now he, too, felt so distant.
She sighed, not realising at first she did it aloud. When she realised it, she drew her hand over her mouth and hoped no one had noticed.
"Eh... I think... I should... go find my locker as well," she said quietly, not sure if anyone would really listen to her, anyway. She took an unsure step backwards, fingering a lock of hair absentmindedly. She didn't really want to leave Teddy so soon after they had just met again, but he seemed busy with Ace, and she didn't really want to get involved with the argument between Princess, Ace and Starlight. That soup had been stirred enough.
