Vincent's eyes narrowed and he stared at Ace, clearly offended. Quickly he made up his mind he didn't like the blonde.
"When I got here for the interview, there were no fags around," he said, his voice cold and disdainful. A few of the guys leaning on the bar close by glanced at him, looking offended, and moved farther away.
Chip felt like strangling Vinnie, but then again, he knew how his cousin was. He was raised as a bigot, he'd probably always be that. He sighed in his mind. Ace and his mother had had him forgetting for a while what the real world was like out there.
Vincent glared at Ace.
"And you better watch your tongue, too," he said angrily, his Italian accent growing stronger as he got upset. "Or I'll feed it to you."
Chip tensed his muscles. He knew Vincent's temper. His hand slid to the knife attached to his leg under the trousers. He would interfere, if things got out of hand.

Still leaning against the bar Ace glanced to his side, catching the eye of the bouncer standing a few feet away. Luckily it was Vaughan, who was a friend of Rex's and had a bit of a soft spot for the blond. He'd been listening to the entire exchange, ready to jump in if things got out of hand. Confident that Vincent wouldn't be able to touch him if things got heated, Ace kept prodding him.
"Oh, you must have come on a Friday then, Fridays cater more to the rave crowd and not so much the gay crowd. But still, didn't you see the posters on the walls, advertising drag shows? Don't have much of a habit of observing your surroundings, do you?" He grinned and took another sip of water before leaning in just a bit and looking a tad bit more serious.
"A note of advice, though, since you're new. I have a lot of important friends here, and if you so much as lay a finger on me in an unfriendly manner, you won't only lose your job but you might possibly lose a limb or some blood. So don't threaten me, it's really not very friendly." He smiled and winked at Vincent, glancing again at Vaughan, who was now focusing his attention on the pair, waiting to ensure there would be no call for him to step in. Ace wanted to look back at Chip to see his expression, but didn't want to give him away.

Vincent snorted. He wasn't afraid of the bouncer. He wasn't afraid of anyone, anything, that's what he told himself, anyway. He didn't, however, want to lose his job - quite yet. So though Ace's remarks angered him nearly to the boiling point, he choked it back and leaned on the counter with his elbows, staring at the blonde. He didn't like being threatened. He rather would have told Ace that in fact, he had some important friends as well, and better yet, some rather tough friends, and that he'd be happy to teach the blonde a few things about respect if they ever met in an alley, but he swallowed all that. Instead, he smiled a fake smile.
"I see," he said, just a little acidly. "Was there anything else?"

"Not right now, but if I need anything else I'll be sure to be stop by again. Now you keep your hands to yourself and be polite tonight, just like a good bartender." Ace winked, pushing himself up from the bar, winking at Vaughan before turning and walking back toward where Chip was crouching by the other bar. He walked close enough to glance down at Chip, grinning and winking at him, before taking a sip from his bottle and tossing it down to the ground where Chip was, leaning on a nearby table and looking him in the eye, speaking softly enough that hardly anyone else would hear him yet loud enough so Chip would.
"Be a dear and watch my water, would you?" He winked at Chip before pushing himself off the table and walking out into the crowd of people, his eyes scanning the crowd expertly for someone appropriate to focus in on, wanting to test Chip a little. Catching the glance of an older guy, probably in his early 30s but very hot, Ace started dancing to the music. The song, a remix of a current popular hit by a dj group called the Shape Shifters "Lola's Theme", Ace moved his body in a fashion much more feminine than masculine, dancing more with his hips than his shoulders.
It worked everytime. The fluid movements combined with his beautiful face and sly smile never failed in attracting the attention of anyone he chose. Not that things ever went beyond a dance- the attraction he had was more in capturing the attention of a person, then dropping them the moment they believed they had a hope of bedding him. It always amused him.

Ace had two pairs of eyes following him as he went to the dance floor. One pair of eyes belonged to Chip, who would have wanted to tell Ace to take care of his own water. He was wiggling with annoyance as he watched him go to the dance floor and attract the attention of an older man. At that point he nearly got up and went to them. It was only the thought of his father that kept him put. He couldn't afford it, not now - not even account of this gorgeous blond. So he simply glared and sipped from the water. Oh, yes, he would drink it. The boy could get another bottle. Chip didn't like being left hanging like that.
The other pair of eyes belonged to Vincent, who felt rather strange at that moment. He was angry at being spoken to in a way he felt was diminishing, and he was angry at just about everything that had been happening to him lately. Yet there was a part of him that was angry for quite another reason – for insecurity. He watched Ace go with mixed feelings, feelings he couldn't decipher. The blond was quite... breathtaking. Vincent nearly felt envy for his easy and self-assured movements. He felt himself clumsy, somehow, at that moment. His usual self-assurance and confidence had been shaken. He wasn't sure himself why. All he could do was watch the blond... and wonder.

Just as expected, the man Ace had caught eyes with almost immediately made his way over, irresistably drawn to the young blond. Ace continued dancing normally, not acknowledging his presence just yet.
At least not blatantly. Instead he did shift his movements just a little, ensuring that he was directly in front of his pursuer, waiting now for the other to make another move on him. Just a bit longer, just as Ace had looked over and caught Chip's eye, winking at him despite the sour look on his face, the man laid a hand on his shoulder and Ace leaned back against him, curious what this one's approach would be.
"That's a nice shirt," he spoke into the blond's ear, refering the FCUK shirt Ace was wearing which had an obvious sexual reference to it. "I'd fuck you too."
Ace couldn't keep the grin off his face, thankful his back was facing the man behind him. He had been expecting that exact line and hearing it made him want to laugh. "Of course you would," he didn't move his head at all, speaking loudly enough so the man could hear, but lowly enough that he would have to move his head closer, "if I'd let you."
The man reacted exactly the way Ace had hoped he would, with disbelief that anyone would turn him down. "Don't play hard to get, you know you want me, why else would you have bothered getting my attention?" From the tone of his voice it was obvious that the man thought Ace really was playing hard to get, that all it would take was a few words to get him in bed.
"Just for kicks." Ace turned around, looking up into his face and smirking. "You old guys are all the same, you know. I got your attention, just so I could turn you down. It was fun." He winked and turned away, walking over to the bar, not looking back. He promptly sat down beside Chip, plucking the bottle of water out of his hands, quickly kissing him on the cheek before taking a sip.
"Thanks for watching my water, sweetie." Unable to suppress the grin on his lips, Ace simply sat on the floor and allowed himself to lean against Chip, dying to know just what the other was thinking, and how quickly he'd be able to charm his way back into Chip's heart. It was a game he was quite fond of.
Glancing up into Chip's face he smiled, a slight bit of apology in his eyes. "I'm sorry, I'm being a real bastard tonight, aren't I?" He put one hand on Chip's arm, squeezing it lightly in an affectionate manner. Only time would tell if Chip would fall prey to his manipulative actions like the majority of others did.

Chip continued glowering for while Ace came to sit next to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. But when the blond leaned onto him and looked at him with the slight apology in his eyes and spoke and touched his arm he just had to smile a bit. Oh, he could see Ace was playing him like he had played the older guy on the dance floor. But how could he stay angry at him? After all, he did come back to Chip, didn't he?
Chip knew he was being suckered, but he went for it in any case.
“Yes, you are,” he said as he leaned his other elbow on his knee and his cheek on his hand, looking at Ace with a tilted head and a slight smile on his lips. “But I guess that's one of your most charming features.”
Farther off, Vinnie had finally managed to take his eyes off Ace and concentrate on wiping the counter clean. He was seriously beginning to wonder if the extra bucks were worth this. He felt too distraught to his liking.

Ace smiled and laid an arm across Chip's chest, his head leaning against his shoulder. He closed his eyes for a moment, testing out his level of comfort. When he realized that he felt comfortable enough with Chip to leave his eyes closed (for the moment, at least) he opened them again and looked back up at him and smiled once more.
"That bartender friend of yours is a real case, you know. I think he's a closet gay and he wants to sleep with me. I can tell." He winked at Chip, the hand across his chest playing with Chip's shirt.

Chip was slightly surprised by Ace's sudden show of affection. Not that he minded. But he was unaccustomed to cuddling. He was getting used to Ace's unpredictability, however, so he held himself still. Nonchalantly, he wrapped an arm around the blond's shoulders. Well, maybe someone would think they were just necking or something. He was slightly worried of his reputation.
"That bartender friend of yours is a real case, you know. I think he's a closet gay and he wants to sleep with me. I can tell." He winked at Chip, the hand across his chest playing with Chip's shirt.
That made Chip freeze for a moment and blink a few times in utter shock. He had always taken Vinnie for too much of a straight macho man to even think about gayness... but then again... what Ace said, made perfect sense to him. Vinnie tended to go overboard whenever it came to women or anything related to sex... including his fanatic attitude about gays.
It was hilarious as hell. Chip started laughing.
"Shit," he said when he got the laughter a little under control. He shook his head. "Shit, Ace, I think you're right. Now that I think of it, he's a school book example." He laughed some more, then grew serious and looked at Ace very intently and meaningfully. "But promise me you'll never ever say that to his face. I know my cousin. Believe me, you don't want to mess with him too much. He'll end up beating you up."
Of course, Chip had another, more personal motive in trying to persuade Ace not to mess with Vincent. He didn't really like the idea of Ace flirting with other guys, even less with Vincent.

"Not likely." Ace smirked and looked back up at Chip, wondering if the other was at all jealous about his flirting with Vinnie. He seemed a little like the jealous type."Vinnie wouldn't be able to lay a hand on me, I'm well connected and protected." He winked at Chip before sitting up a little straighter. "Hey, I have a question. You Italians all seem pretty close, and I was wondering if you knew the Giovanni family. Rex, in particular. He's a really close friend of mine, I actually set him up with my cousin, Sunny, who's really more like a sister than a cousin. The majority of his family is still in Italy, though. I just thought to ask because I know his younger sister Nomando knows Sweetheart, so I thought maybe your family would know them as well since your family seemed close with hers."
(Is it okay if SH knows Rex's family? I figured you wouldn't mind, I'm just contemplating bringing Rex into the game, not sure yet)

Chip was slightly impressed with Ace's connections. Well, well, what did you know. He knew the Giovannis, if not tightly, at least enough to know about them. Perhaps Vinnie would have trouble in threatening Ace.
He nodded, deciding not to go back to being grumpy about Ace leaving him like that. He had come back, hadn't he? And how could you stay angry at that beauty?
"Yeah, I've got some connections over there myself," Chip said, being casual about it. He suspected Ace didn't know the depth of the connections between the three Italian families, and he didn't want to give anything away.
[[I'm not sure how much Chip would know about Rex and the Giovannis. Has Rex left his family? Or is he still in the "business"? What's the story? *lol* I'm all questions. But there's so much I need to know to know how Chip would think about Rex and Giovannis and all that, as he's actually in the deep end of the mafia stuff whereas Sweetheart, for instance, is blissfully unaware of anything but good family connections.]]

"Italian families and their connections, kinda scary when you think about it." Ace stretched his legs out in front of him, crossing one ankle over the other. "So, as nice as the floor is and all, exactly what are we going to do for the rest of the night? I could always try and pull some strings to get Vinnie working in the back doing stock for a little while, get him out of our hair so we can dance." A sly smile on his lips, Ace hoped Chip would like that idea, since he really did want to dance with him.

Chip smiled a bit. If only he knew just how scary the Italian families could get. Maybe he did. Rex certainly had to know. Chip thought back on what his father had told him. Papa Giovanni wanted his son sheltered. A bit ruefully he thought he'd never have got similar care from his father.
As Ace suggested getting rid of Vinnie for a while he shook himself off of the bad thoughts.
"Sure," he said with a smile. There was a tingle of satisfaction in him to think Vinnie would be put doing stock for a while. Not that he especially hated his cousin, but he and Vinnie had a strange relationship. In a way they were as tight as can be - in a way very distant. He smiled wickedly. "See what you can do. I rather got on a dancing mood from that show you pulled on the floor there."

Ace grinned and laid a hand on Chip's knee, squeezing it. "Excellent, I'll go see what I can do. I'll be back." He gracefully got up from the floor, not looking back at Chip as he walked over to the main bar. He motioned to one of the waitresses there, asking if he could speak with the owner. She hurried off to the back, re-emerging with the 36 year old owner, Ilia. He walked over and greeted Ace, ordering himself a gin & tonic.
"So kid, what can I do for you?"
Ace leaned on the bar, glancing over at the bar where Vinnie was working, watching as he served a couple of shirtless guys, looking displeased. "Well 'Lia, I have a favour to ask. See the new guy at the bar over there? Is there any way you could maybe whisk him away to the back for the rest of the night, do stock or something? I'm here with a new guy, Italian- you know how they are, and apparently Vinnie is his cousin. Only thing is Vinnie didn't realize this was a gay club and he also doesn't know that his cousin is gay. So we kinda need a distraction for Vinnie so we can dance." He glanced up at Ilia, a hopeful smile on his face.
Ilia grinned and touched Ace's shoulder, before downing his drink. "I'll see what I can do for you. I can't promise all night, but I'll at least get you an hour. After all it is a school night, you should be at home in bed." He put his glass on the bar and patted Ace's cheek before walking back from where he'd come, heading for the floor manager to advise him of the changes to the staff they'd be making.
Pleased that in only moments they'd be free to dance, Ace made his way back to Chip, a smile on his face.

Chip watched Ace talk to the owner, his other eyebrow arched. The boy seemed to be well connected indeed. He wondered if he should introduce the boy to his father, and make sure he was introduced to the Rosaccis as well. They might...
Instantly he gulped the thought back down. What was he doing? Did he want to pull more people in? No. Ace was probably free now. Chip didn't want to be the one to drag him to the dark side.
He forced up a smile when Ace turned back to return to him. This was not the time for worries. Now he was here to have fun.
"Smooth," he complimented Ace when the boy got close enough.
