The three friends rode the elevator up to the 12th floor of the building, chatting about the day, before exiting at the floor and walking down the hall to finally enter the apartment Sparky shared with her roommate. She opened the door and ushered her friends in, kicking off her sneakers at the door, dropping her bag on the floor, and walking into the apartment. There was a message on the answering machine, so she set about checking it.
Ace laid his shoes by the door as well and stepped into the kitchen. "Want anything to drink, Melly?" He opened the fridge and took out a pitcher of water to pour himself a glass.

Slipping her shoes off Melody left them by the front door. Turning around she followed Ace towards the kitchen.
"Would love some water." Mel replied, resting both arms on the counter and leaning slightly forward.
The teenager was completely relaxed and had a bright smile on her face. How long had it been since she'd gotten to hang out with Ace? Or for that matter both Sparky and Ace together? This was definitely something she missed doing and certainly needed to work more on getting to do.

"One water it is." Ace took down a second glass and poured her some, then put the pitcher back in the fridge and took out a can of 7Up, which he knew from experience is what Sparky would want. Handing Melody her glass, Ace slipped his arm around her shoulders, "let's go take a seat while Sparky gets herself settled and finds out stuff." He pulled her with him to the living room, which, despite the two roommates not having a ton of money, was decorated very nicely and at least looked well put together. While Sparky worked her magic with material, her roommate Rolli was an artist, proficient at painting. Add to the fact that Rolli's best friend Duke had skill with carpentry, and the kids had managed to find and make themselves some extremely good looking furniture and accessories. The bright living room, painted in shades of orange and red with circles, was definitely eye catching and suited the pair very well.
Ace put the can of 7Up down near the phone, where Sparky was still standing, listening to the message. He then pulled Melody over to the couch (covered in black microfibre) so they could sit down. "So, how are things with you? I'm sorry it's taken us so long to actually sit down and talk, I've missed you." He put his arm back around Melody's shoulder and pulled her closer to him to cuddle a little. He'd always worried about Melody, always trying to ensure she was doing well and as happy as she could be, given everything that had gone on in her life. He was excited to tell her his news about Chip, but he wanted to hear any news she might have first.

Melody took the glass from Ace with a smile. His arm around her shoulders made her feel safe, as though nothing bad could ever happen or had ever happened. Any thoughts that might have entered her head vanished instantly when they stepped foot into the living room. It never ceased to amaze her just how stylish it was. The colors always caught her attention and made her study the walls for a minute or two as she mentally traced the circles on the wall.
Once on the couch, Mel cozied up closer to Ace, letting her head half rest on his shoulder. Beads of moisture were already forming on the glass and the girl rubbed her thumb gently over a spot on the glass, clearing a small patch in the process.
“I’ve missed you too.” Melody began, “Seems like we haven’t had a chance to hang out in ages.”
Shifting slightly so she could look at Ace she answered his question, "Things have been all right. Really. For the first time in what seems like forever, things are honestly ok. Helped getting out and going to the beach. I had a lot of fun. The only thing that could have made it even better was if I had gotten there early enough to catch you."
Letting her head lean back, she continued, "Hanging out with Slugger and his boys really made me realize how much I miss being a part of something musically. The closeness there is in a group and the way they can just cut lose sometimes and do nothing but yet still seem to. Does that even make sense? I’d really like to be a part of that again."
A lopsided smile appeared on her face. She’d been rambling and she knew it. Yet it didn’t bother her. It felt good to say those things, to admit that she missed being a part of a band, to tell someone that she wanted to have that again. Someday she would. At least she hoped she would.
"So what about you? Anything new and exciting going on in your life?"

Ace smiled when she mentioned wanting to be in a band again, as he'd been waiting for her desire to share her music spring back up. "Melly, I'm happy to hear that. You'll find yourself a band and you'll make some great music again, I know you will. But in the meantime if you want, you and I should get together sometime at my place and maybe have a little sing-a-long, you can bring your guitar and I'll play my piano, and we can harmonize! It'll be great fun." He grinned and kissed her forehead. There weren't many people he shared his musical ability with, but Melody was one of the lucky few.
"And it was too bad I left before you got there at the party, I was trying to wait around for you to show up, but I really rather needed to go. I'd had a bit of a long day. Which leads me to my news." Ace was excited to share it with her, but he hoped she wouldn't feel as though his relationship would put a strain on their closeness. After all, hadn't BP admitted her love to him unexpectedly? "I'm kinda seeing someone at the moment. Chip, the new IT guy at school? We'd been hanging out a lot and going out clubbing since he started here, but then it just progressed into something more, and now we're officially together. We'd had a bit of a stressful day at the party, which is why we left early. But being with him is so totally different than anything else I've experienced, I'm actually really completely happy with the relationship. Well aside from having to hide it, you know. That part really sucks."

A warm smile crossed her lips as Mel said, "I hope so. You know it's funny after everything that happened with the Rockin' Beats I pretty much swore music off and now I'm all giddy about maybe starting up again. Life's funny sometimes."
Really she hadn't expected to ever want to play with anyone else again. She had pushed and shoved just about everything and everyone related to music away after losing the band the way she had. And now here she was thinking of trying it all over again.
"I'm sorry I didn't get there sooner. We can blame that on the guys I went over with." The teenager chuckled lightly as she recalled the night's antics before arriving at the hotel.
Eyes lit up as Ace mentioned having something to tell her. From the tone of his voice, it sounded like something he was really excited about. Which got her all excited too.
For a few seconds after he told her a look of pure shock was plainly etched upon her face. Ace found someone? Her Ace? He actually had someone? With no warning Melody let out a squeal before throwing both arms around him and giving him a hug.
"I'm so happy for you!" Before pulling away she gave Ace a kiss on the cheek, "Really. You so deserve it. And he better be treating you right. Or he'll have me all up on his ass."
The last part was said only semi-seriously. Mel wasn't that stupid. The guy looked like he could take down Hoops and the last thing she wanted was to mess with another guy like that. Even if it was for a friend.
While she was beyond excited for Ace there was a tiny part of her that wondered what that meant for them. They were just friends. Sure friends with privileges, which she was fairly certain would have to end now that he had found someone. Which was ok. She could handle that. Right?

Ace grinned when she responded, glad that she appeared to be taking it well. He would miss the moments he and Mel had been sharing recently, but he wasn't about to let anything get in between he and Chip. He just hoped Melody wouldn't look elsewhere for someone to fill the void. At least he hoped she wouldn't be looking to anyone who would take advantage of her.
When she mentioned that Chip had better be treating him right, Ace laughed. "Oh don't worry, he takes very good care of me. But I'll pass on your warning though. I'm sure you'll have him cowering." He winked and took a sip of his water.
Sparky let out a huff of breath and dropped the phone back onto the cradle, grabbing her pop can and heading over to sit down on the love seat. She looked at Ace and Melody, a slightly grumpy look on her face. She popped open the tab on the can and took a mouthful of pop before speaking. "You know, you'd think that after three years these people would just give up on me. That was yet another member of dad's congregation, telling me to repent and renounce my evil ways and that I'd be welcomed back into the fold. I wonder if he even knows these crazies are calling me." She slipped her feet up on the armrest and took another drink before putting the can on the table.
Ace grinned as Sparky mentioned the phone call. "Hey, remember when we started planning an infiltration of the church? Showing up and interrupting your dad's sermon and streaking? We should look into that again."
Sparky grinned as well when he mentioned the idea. They'd spent an entire day planning an attack on her father's beloved church last year, simply because they'd had nothing better to do. They'd never gone through with the idea of course, but it was something they often joked about. "We may just have to think about that."

Brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, Melody tucked both feet under her legs and sat cross-legged on the couch. Propping one elbow on a knee, she rested her head on her hand and looked at Ace. There was a smile on her face as she watched him. He really did look happy. Truly happy. When was the last time she could say she had honestly seen him that happy? As thrilled as she was for her friend, there was a part of her that secretly yearned for that kind of happiness. She brushed the thought away before it had time to bubble and fester, spoiling her current mood and her friend's. She didn't want that. No. He deserved this. And she wanted to be happy and supportive. She owned him so much more than that after all he'd done for her over the years.
A lopsided smile was on her face as Ace mentioned Chip cowering from her, "Yeah. You know me. I scare little kids with a single look and bring grown men to their knees with a glare."
Noticing Ace's eyes shift she followed his gaze. Her head turned slightly so she could see Sparky better. The red head was certainly less than amused. And as she explained why, it was little wonder.
Mel's eyes widened a little, "You two planned that? Without me?" Letting her hand drop she sat up straighter, "I want in on this if you go through with it. Although depending on who all goes there half of the guys there have probably already seen me naked."
The girl laughed lightly at the joke. It was one thing for her to poke fun of herself or for a close friend to do so. It was another when it came from the likes of Bambi or Jasmine. That she still couldn't handle too well.

Ace grinned at Melody's comment, used to her poking fun at herself when it was just close friends. "Well then we'll just have to make sure it's only people who haven't seen you naked, so we can spread the joy. Then again, if we bring you along I doubt Sparky will be able to concentrate on the task."
Sparky sat up straighter at his comment and stuck her tongue out at him. "Oh come on, hot naked girls do not distract me! At least not that much." She winked at him then glanced at Melody. "Okay you can come, but only if you make out with me afterwards. Or during, whatever works for you." She winked at Melody before taking another sip of her drink.
"Actually you know what would be cool? If you made more sheep costumes and wore Slugger's shepherd outfit! That would piss the fuck out of your dad. Especially if Flint comes along too! He does have a bag packed at your place after all, right?" Ace could only imagine what the strict man would do if they actually did follow with the plan. It would be amusing for certain.

Melody chuckled at the reply. Well at least the female half of the church hadn't seen her naked, yet. Which meant she could at least shock a few people for Sparky.
"Only during and after?" Mel asked with a just a hint of a suggestive smile on her lips.
She loved the red head. She really did. Granted not in the 'I want to have your babies' kind of way, but she did love Sparky. Maybe it was in part because Ace did. Hadn't she only really gotten to know Sparky because of Ace? But than the blond did know the best people and she did adore them all so.
Melody let out a rather girly squeal, "Yes! Oh you so should Sparky. Can you imagine? It would be glorious. You know we could talk a few other people into it. I'd be willing to bet Chloe would jump all over this too. You know she just about worships the ground you walk on. As we all should, of course."

Sparky smiled as Melody replied, her ego swelling just slightly at the compliments. After a childhood spent forced into being plain and average, Sparky lapped up every compliment ever thrown her way. "Yes, Chloe would be perfect for this! I know she'd make out with me for sure. Maybe that should be a requirement for the girls who join in. The boys will have to make out with Ace though." Sparky grinned and glanced at her best friend.
Ace did his best to look shocked. "Well, if you plan on inviting Chloe, I think I should refrain from mentioning this to Chase. He'd probably throw a hissy fit if he knew we were corrupting her any further. Although it would be tempting to invite him just so I could make out with him..." Ace trailed off and nodded his head. It was no secret to the majority of his friends, save Chase himself, that Ace had quite the crush on his other best friend. Maybe he'd never wanted to think about it, or maybe he'd just always accepted Ace's affectionate behaviour due to his European heritage.
Sparky, being one friend who'd known about Ace's crush for years, grinned mischievously. "I would love to see you make out with Chase, I always thought you two would make the cutest couple in the world. But I suppose we don't want to make Chip jealous. Speaking of which, you think he'd be up for joining in? We could have you two grope each other on the pulpit."
Ace laughed and nodded his head. "I could see him being into this. Not quite sure how he'd feel about me making out with the other boys. So maybe we should just have them make out with each other instead. Tell them if they do that, they can watch you ladies make out with each other. It could work."

"Unless our darling Chase has some sort of claim on Chloe he really can't protest." Mel was quick to point out, "Though knowing Chase that isn't going to stop him either way."
The other girl purred, "Mmm, yes. That would be sextacular if the two of you did. So many would die of lust witnessing that."
Melody could picture the two boys making out in her mind. A lovely sight to behold. But not nearly as fun as the real thing.
"How many ambulances would we need to have standing by from all the heart attacks that would cause?"
The girl had a positively huge smile on her face and her eyes with sparkling with amusement as she listened to the two plot and plan.

Ace grinned at the smile on Melody's face. "Maybe I would have to steal a quick, lusty kiss or two from Chase then. We can keep Chip distracted. Hell, maybe he'd enjoy watching too! We'll have to think some more about that."
Sparky laughed at the comment about ambulances. "Probably every one in the city. Dad's congregation are about as conservative as it comes. Hell, half of them probably haven't even seen their spouses fully naked! Damn Mormons." Sparky grinned even wider-- making fun of her family's religion was a favourite passtime for her. She'd never enjoyed anything about it even when she had been forced into going to church constantly.
