Dan relaxed a bit at her words, though he was sharp enough to notice the drop in mood. He had his suspicions about the way Bp might have wanted things to be between Teddy and her. That should be kept in mind. He wasn't so sure about her assurance about Teddy, either. God knew Dan hadn't meant to hurt Sweetheart either. But he was bound to, he knew, eventually. Teddy didn't need to want to hurt her to do exactly that.
But then, he reminded himself, his sister had her own life to live and her own mistakes to make. He couldn't protect her forever. So he shook all that and leaned into the table a little, taking a spoonful of his ice cream.
"So now they're together and we're both dumped," he said, trying to catch a lightness to his tone. "Are you sure you don't want that ice cream... or something... for compensation?" He smirked just a little. Somehow, it felt to him, there was no harm in flirting with her a little, though he knew he was quite out of practice on that area.

Bp smiled at Dan's comment. She was thankful he was trying to lighten the mood. He was observant. She liked that sort of thing.
"Ice cream is too fattening..." Blue eyes danced mischievously. "But that something sounds pretty good." There was a smirk on Bp's lips. In all honesty, she loved ice cream, but she loved guys even more.

Dan smiled. He rather liked her. She made him feel less... at an edge. It felt good to relax a little for a while.
"I see," he said and smirked back. Then he was uncertain how he should have gone on with it. Back in his studying days he had usually just picked up the girl, brought her home, been done with her and never have to see her again. But here, he knew he'd have to meet her again, with all probability, especially if she was a friend of Teddy's.
But he did like her.
"Well, I've got my bike just outside," he said after scooping up the remainings of his ice cream. "How'bout if we continue this discussion someplace more... private?"
He felt himself quite out of practice. He was actually nervous at talking to her! That was a new experience.

Bp smiled. She was starting to like this Dan fellow. He was nice, and so adorable.
"Mmm." She paused for a brief moment. "That sounds excellent. I always like going for a nice ride..."

Something in her voice made him think that the word "ride" might have multiple meanings in that sentence. He smiled, just a little nervously - which made him feel a little silly, as he was supposed to be the more adult one here, and yet he was behaving like a teenager who'd never had any.
"Let's go, then," he said and got up, leaving his cup on the table. Starlight would get it, he was sure - and the ice cream cup was really the farthest thing in his mind at the moment. He managed to gather enough of his usual self-confidence to look at least somewhat relaxed as he started out the door.
He hoped she'd follow and was on the same track. Else, he'd managed to make a total fool of himself.

Bp smiled when she realized he was nervous. That just made it better for her. She had a soft spot for that sort of thing.
As Dan got up and walked out, she followed. They were definitely on the same track.

Dan was relieved to see she was coming with him. He took her out and picked up the spare helmet he always had attacked to the back of the bike. It was usually there for Sweetheart, but he'd never take anyone else for a ride either, if they didn't wear the helmet. He tossed it over to her and then put on his own helmet.
Smiling, he mounted the bike and kicked off the support.
"Where to, my lady?" he asked her as he waited for her to mount the bike behind him.

Bp got on the bike and put on the helmet. She looked absolutely ridiculous, no doubt, with her wavy hair sticking out from under it, but that was okay. It was her style to act like an idiot every now and then.
She wrapped her arm around Dan's waist and looked up at him. "Since your sister and Teddy are at my place, I guess that means we'll have to go to your's." She smiled.

Dan smirked and then kicked the engine on. In a roar they were off.
"To my humble abode it is, then," he said.

Bp let out a small squeal of surprise as they sped off. Instinctively, she tightened her hold on Dan, but not enough to cause him any discomfort. Smiling a little, she rested her head on his back. There was something sexy about a man on a motorcycle.

Melody smiled as Starlight set the double chocolate milkshake in front of her. Heaven in a glass. Melody took a sip, enjoying the sweet flavor as it slid across her tongue and down her throat.
"Too long Star." Melody replied, "Summer was hectic. The twins had me hoping the entire time. Thank the rainbow for soccer. If those two hadn't joined I think I would have lost my mind. Shame I didn't bring them by here after the games or something. Should have. Would have been nice to see a friend. Especially one I haven't gotten to hang out with too much lately. How have you been?" Mel asked curious since she hadn't seen much of Starlight outside of school in the past year or so.
The two had definitely lost touch with one another a bit over the years. And than there was Ace. Not that it was his fault or anything. But being friends with both certainly put a strain on Melody when the two had broken up. How could one choose sides between two such wonderful friends?

Starlight smiled, trying to relax. She'd missed hanging out with her friends.
"I've been all right," she lied, a smile on her face. No need to go into details. "Well, mostly, anyway." She didn't mention the Ace thing. Melody knew of it enough, no need to go deeper into it. "I've been busy with helping mom most of the summer." She smiled sheepishly. "Not really much going on in my life, to tell the truth. I've been alone a lot since... well, you know."
She trailed her fingers along the counter, looking down. A melancholy caught her again. That had happened a lot lately. Her mother was beginning to worry. Told her she should get out more, so she wouldn't end up like her.

"Yeah?" Melody half questioned, uncertain if the other was telling the truth or not.
The break up hadn't exactly been sunshine and smiles between Starlight and Ace. To hear that Star was 'doing all right' was kind of a surprise to the other girl. But hey if Starlight said so, than she must be. Mustn't she?
Melody chuckled, "How is your mom?"
She knew all about helping out and seeing few people outside of school. Even now this one of her rare times when she wasn't needed and the twins weren't pulling her in twenty different directions.
Melody nodded. She knew. All too well maybe. She really did hope that the other girl would be all right. Maybe even get back out and find someone new.
Changing the topic Melody said, "I think we need a girls night out. What do you say? Just you, me and maybe a couple of other girls. Have a night on the town. Pig out on ice cream. Watch some sappy movie no guy in his right mind would want to sit through. Than after all that fun we can bash or dish about boys. What do you think?"

Starlight smiled a bit to Melody, picking up on her slight disbelief that she was telling her the truth about being ok. Well, every girl ever having gone through a break up would probably know she wasn't ok. Perhaps would never be.
She let the question about her mom slide. Her mom was rarely well, and currently she was going through another stormy romance. She had been in heaven the previous weekend, but Starlight was suspecting soon the man would stop calling her, and she would fall apart again.
So when Melody changed the topic and suggested a girls' night out, she felt like a sparkle of life was suddenly being lit inside her. She had not been out with friends in far too long a time.
"Oh my God, Mel," she said with a delighted smile, "you're a gift from heaven!" She gave a laugh. "That would be awesome! I'd love to come." She grew a little hesitating, however. "Who else would we invite?" she asked a little insecurely. She remembered the times when there had been the seven of them - Bon Bon, Clover, Sweetheart, Bright Eyes, Patch, Melody and herself. They had used to do nearly everything together. And now...? She didn't even know the phone numbers of half the girls anymore, nor did she know what they were up to.
She realised she missed the good old days nearly as much as she missed Ace.

Taking a few sips of the double chocolate milkshake Melody smiled. She laughed a little when Starlight said she was a 'gift from heaven'.
Who would they invite? Melody didn't really know herself. She hadn't really hung out with, let alone talked to, the group of girls she had once thought she'd be friends forever with. What were they all up to anyway? She hadn't talked to Bright Eyes or Patch in what felt like a century. No telling what Clover or Sweetheart were up to. Sure she talked to Bon Bon every once in a while. But that didn't mean the other girl would want to hang out like they had in days long forgotten. Princess was always fun. Harle wasn't too bad either. Maybe Bp. Or there was Sparky. Moki would be pretty cool.
Melody shrugged, "Didn't give it much thought yet. Anyone you'd like to invite?" The girl asked somewhat hopeful that the other had a better idea than she did.
[OOC: Maybe one or two characters from everyone? Would be kind of neat to get everyone involved in a thread.]
