Antonio's comment about his looks being the only thing Chip fell for broke Ace out of his fearful stupor momentarily. That was always a hot topic for him, no matter the situation. Everyone always assumed that was the only thing he had, his looks and his skill with the ball. He never bothered saying anything about it though, it was just something that left him stewing internally.
But when Antonio started making his comments about Chip, that momentary spark of anger and annoyance dropped away. Antonio was right. Chip had lied to him about everything and it was costing him big right now. But Chip had done so much for him too, Ace didn't doubt that. He understood why Chip wouldn't have wanted to say anything, but it still stung just a little.
Antonio's question left him silent for a moment. Would he die for Chip? He knew the answer to that. It was no. He wouldn't die for anyone, he was far too selfish. He loved Chip and would do just about anything else for him, but dying wasn't on the list. But should he tell Antonio that? It was probably what he wanted to hear, wasn't it? He probably wanted to try and make him doubt what he had with Chip. Should he lie and say yes? Try and make Antonio believe it?
"No." He couldn't. Though he didn't appreciate the lying, he did trust that Chip loved him. He trusted that somehow, Chip would figure something out to get him out of this mess. He trusted that no matter what Antonio said to Chip, that Chip would trust that Ace still loved him no matter what might happen. He didn't want to lie about something like this.

Antonio was most pleased by this reply. It was what he had hoped, if not expected. Still, it made all kinds of sense to him, for several reasons. And not the least because he observed Ace as a self-conceited brat who had been given too much for nothing.
"That so?" He chuckled. "That's very interesting, very interesting indeed, because you know, I'm pretty sure old Ciro's all ready to die for you. If he wasn't, he wouldn't even agree on coming here to save your sorry ass. I'll bet you wouldn't do half as much for him." He eyed Ace meanly. "Next question: what do you think he'd do if he knew his feelings are obviously not returned quite in kind?"
He wanted longer answers from Ace for a change. The boy was getting off far too easy with his "yes" and "no" replies. But most importantly - he wanted to mess with Ace's thoughts about the relationship between him and Chip.

Ace stared at Antonio, his gaze hardening just a little. He wasn't going to let Antonio mess with him on this subject. "He knows that I love him. He trusts me." Or at least he hoped Chip did. What if Antonio said something to him when things went down? What if Chip was too emotionally charged and actually listened to whatever Antonio told him?

Ace's hardening gaze made Antonio less pleased. So, there was some resolve in the kid after all? He hadn't really believed it, from the scared way he'd been going about it until now. But then, maybe he really was a tough guy in the end. This irritated Antonio. He didn't like tough guys - excluding himself and his friends - and he especially disliked pretty-face tough guys.
"Oh really? Trusts you so much he didn't even tell you about his secret life? What a truly special relationship you two have." His voice was extremely sarcastic.

Ace looked a little annoyed now, the way he always did when anyone got sarcastic with him. He knew it was totally hypocritical of him, since he employed sarcasm all the time with others. He also didn't like what Antonio said. It wasn't that Chip didn't trust him, he was just worried about what he'd think. Which, when he thought about it, was really the same thing. "I can forgive him for not telling me."

Antonio was getting really annoyed with Ace's stubbornness. He had expected to break through him easily but now it seemed that the blond's faith in Chip was far greater than he had anticipated. In fact, Ace's defiance as well as his reply made Antonio so mad that he grabbed the blond by the collar and picked him up from the ground.
"You think you're so much better than everyone else, do you?" he hissed angrily. "The perfect little faggot, is that it? Do you realise I could destroy your life with just... one... shot." He pressed his gun point against Ace's knee. "As I said, we don't really need you in one piece. Just as long as you're breathing, it's fine. Do you know what happens to untended gunshot wounds in the knee in just 24 hours?" His eyes flashed angrily. "You wanna find out?"
[[Ace wouldn't be able to tell this, I think, but Fio would know that Antonio's gun has safety on, so she doesn't need to step in between right now. She'd probably get punished if she did. So don't worry - he's not really going to blast Ace's foot.]]

The moment Antonio pulled him up Ace felt that fear returning. He hated this, the way he was always, always intimidated by the use of physical force against him. He couldn't do anything about it, either. When Ace felt the muzzle of the gun pressed into his knee he turned his head away from Antonio, his eyes closed, like he was waiting for the trigger to be pulled. Would he do it? Would Antonio really shoot him? He only needed him alive, after all, it didn't matter if he was injured.

Antonio felt more pleased when Ace actually cowered in the face of the danger. Yeah, he thought to himself, the blond pretended to be brave but when the push came to a shove... he wasn't up for it.
He pulled the trigger. There was an empty click as the safety stopped the gun from going off. Antonio laughed as he took away his gun and slipped it to the back of his belt. He felt confident enough not to really need it with Ace right now.
"Had this been a real danger situation, you would be one knee shorter right now," he said, obviously mocking Ace. "But you get off easy this time. Shooting is so messy. I'd hate to get anything on my suit."

Ace stared down at the floor while Antonio made his mocking comments. When he'd heard the click of the trigger, a sign the safety was on, he'd nearly collapsed with relief. He had to stop letting Antonio manipulate him like that. He had to stop baiting him too, he couldn't let the man manipulate him into getting angry. If he got angry, Antonio would only keep doing things like this until one time became one time too many and he really did hurt him in some way. He just needed to stay quiet, and look intimidated. That was what Antonio wanted.

[[I'll just continue to this same thread, if that's all right... Soo, skipping forth to the next day, as agreed!]]
Antonio had to admit to being slightly disappointed in the way the kidnap was turning out. Not that he didn't still enjoy a considerable amount of control in the situation, but he wasn't sure if he was making the kind of impact on Ace as he had hoped. He had wanted to scare the boy out of his wits, and also make sure that even if they'd allow him walk free again, he would never want to have anything more to do with Chip. It was hard to tell if this was truly happening. He suspected Ace handled the pressure better than he had expected, and only told him what he thought he wanted to hear. It was difficult to break through that, and then tormenting Ace was not the only thing Antonio could freely focus on.
There was a mission to accomplish here.
When clock hit five on the Saturday afternoon, Antonio picked out his cellphone and dialled Chip's number. He was standing a little ways off from the boys, twirling his gun loosely in one hand, confident that Fio would look after them but still keeping an eye on the prisoners. There was a shorter pause than he had expected, but that only made him smile. Chip was really in jitters about this, wasn't he?
"Yeah?"
"Ciro, so good of you to pick up so quickly. Are you ready for our little... transaction?"
"I wanna talk to him first. Make sure you haven't... hurt him."
Antonio's face grew more serious, and a snarl curled his lip. He really rather didn't - but he didn't want to lose his authority over the situation by declining and then being forced into agreeing after all. He knew that whatever else Chip may have been, he would not lose his head completely in this situation. He would not plunge into danger just because Antonio said he still had Ace.
"Fine." He walked lazily over to Ace and crouched near the ground. His eyes were on Ace. "Well, say hello to your darling boyfriend, Golden Boy." And he brought the phone closer to Ace, though he never let go of it.
"Ace? You okay? I'm coming for you." Chip's voice on the other end sounded concerned but there was a definite calm ring to it.

When Ace heard Antonio walking over to him, phone in hand, he could only assume that this thing was starting now. When Antonio crouched down next to him, bringing the phone over to him, he knew what was happening. And when he heard Chip's voice, he was worried. What exactly was supposed to be happening this afternoon? What was the plan? He wished he could have been comforted by Chip's voice, but he wasn't. He didn't know what was supposed to be happening and he knew enough to know that whatever it was that was planned, it had the possibility to go all wrong. He almost couldn't respond to Chip, taking a bit longer to speak than anyone would have imagined.
"I'm fine, Chip." He couldn't really say anything more. He wasn't fine, but he couldn't admit that to Chip. His voice was surprisingly calm when he spoke, but only because he was so uncomfortable with this situation.

Logan had remained quiet after Antonio had returned. There was no point in saying anything if they didn't ask him something. And from the way things were going they weren't going to. Fine by him.
As much as the teen hated to admit it, when Antonio had cocked the gun a twinge of fear had surged through him. What if he did? Dislike the other boy or not he didn't wish anything bad to happen to him. Even if he had wanted to try and stop the other he knew full well that he couldn't. There were two others there and they both had guns. No doubt ready and more than willing to turn him into swiss cheese. So Logan had sat quietly, eyes watching, face emotionless, but praying all the while that no real harm would come to Ace. Never had the other been so thankful to hear the click of a trigger in his life. The safety was on. Thank heavens! Adverting his eyes from Ace and Antonio he had watched Fio, wondering a bit about her. Not many girls got mixed up in this business unless they were born into it. Which Logan figured was the case with her. Yet he wondered if she had been given a choice if this was what she would have chosen.
Cramped and tired Logan looked even less social than usual. He was stiff and sore from staying in the same position for so long and his eyes ached from lack of sleep. Rotating his left shoulder he glanced again around the building. This sitting and doing nothing was going to drive him crazy. The lack of sleep didn't bother him; he'd gone without sleep before. Mostly while working on something. But this idleness was like torture.
