Bells smiled ever so sweetly to Lightning, quite pleased with how he was behaving. She didn't realise that he was just playing along, or at least she wasn't sure. Still, the main thing was that Lightning seemed to be hers now. Jasmine's words dropped the smug feeling from her throat to somewhere into her stomach, though.
My Toffee precisely, girl, she wanted to say, but couldn't.
"Fate indeed," she did answer, with the happiest smile she could muster. "There's no other word for it."
Toffee found it difficult to keep his extreme exhilaration from showing on his face at that moment. He could tell quite clearly that the meaning behind those politely pronounced words was far less friendly than what Bells openly conveyed, and that Bells could indeed come up with several other words for it - and none of them suitable for a lady to utter.
"Do sit down with us, you two, and let's get this double date rolling," he invited. "I do believe we had some plotting to do."

Jasmine nodded to Toffee's, comment, "yes yes, sit down and join us. We do have some planning to do, don't we?"
Lightning agreed and pulled out a chair for Bells, "for you, my dear, would you like anything to drink?" He wasn't planning on anything himself, but it was only polite to offer to get Bells something.

Bells was most pleased when Lightning offered her a chair. She sat down and smiled to him politely.
"Oh, perhaps just one cup of tea," she said.
[[short... but I'm drawing a blank here right now, haha >.<]]

Lightning nodded and went to buy her a cup of tea at the counter, leaving Bells alone with Jasmine and Toffee.
Jasmine watched Lightning walk off to get her tea, then glanced back at Bells. "Isn't he just wonderful? I'm so glad there appears to be such chemistry between the two of you, you'll make such a lovely pair, I think. Just like Toffee and I, really." She placed a hand on Toffee's knee and leaned slightly toward him, a smile on her face. She was loving this and wished she could see Bells' honest expression to a comment like the one she'd just made.

[[why is it that I keep forgetting about this thread?]]
This time Bells could not keep the short hint of annoyance from her face as Jasmine leaned toward Toffee in what seemed to her like an owning gesture. And Toffee was just sitting there, smiling! Where was loyalty? All she had done for him, he was just chucking her aside? Oh, they'd just see about that, wouldn't they? She'd make that bitch pay, she would!
But the expression of pure acid remained in her eyes for only a few fractions of a second, and she had soon corrected it again. Gracefully she crossed one leg over the other and leaned comfortably back in her chair, not granting Toffee a single look as she encountered Jasmine's face. She had already pinpointed exactly who her main enemy was.
"I quite agree, Jasmine," she said, sounding rather too sweet to be genuine, Toffee knew. "Your Lightning is quite delightful company. He took me for dinner upon our first meeting, he is such a sweet creature. I do believe I shall keep him."
Bells' smile was like that of a snake preparing to strike. It would have been impressive, Toffee had to admit, had Bells not been played so perfectly. It was completley priceless, and he couldn't stop chuckling deep in his mind. She thought she was playing a counter offensive even if in truth she was being twisted and turned like a lab rat in a maze. Oh, this was going to be so delightful.
Of course, he did feel the slightest hint of compassion toward Bells. She had been a worthy ally, and he really shouldn't have treated her like this.
But he didn't want to concentrate on that at the moment.

Jasmine smiled back sweetly at the mention of Bells keeping Lightning, quite glad her best friend hadn't been there to overhear the comment. Lightning played the game well, but he did have his weak points and being "kept" by anyone certainly ranked up high among comments that aggravated him. So Jasmine decided to ignore the comment and leave it unacknowledged. "Where did he take you? He and I like to dine at some of the finest restaurants here, so I'm certain it must have been somewhere lovely." Due to the venemous quality to Bells' polite facial expression, Jasmine decided it would be best if she actually portrayed a look of honest politeness and friendship, hopefully aggravating Bells further. This girl was definitely proving to be extremely entertaining.

Bells did manage to maintain her politeness despite the fact that Jasmine was annoying her more than she could bear. This was going to be a long semester, she thought to herself. She needed to get Toffee alone with her, that much was certain. This Jasmine would certainly spoil everything for her.
"Oh, we went to this absolutely adorable Indian place," she replied, betraying no sign of ill feeling now but feeling it clearly inside. "Bini Nila's you know the place I'm sure. He is such a courtly escort, really, I felt myself quite treated. True gentlemen are so hard to come by these days, don't you agree?"
Toffee sat back, enjoying the show.

Jasmine grinned, knowing exactly why Lightning had chosen the Indian restaurant and guessing that if Bells had known he'd picked it because it was the cheapest place to take her, she wouldn't be so happy right about now. "Mm yes, that place is lovely. I quite enjoy the butter chicken, myself."
When she mentioned Lightning being a gentle man though, Jasmine couldn't help but make a comment. "Yes he has turned into quite the gentleman I must say. After all I did teach him how to treat a lady properly when we were younger." Jasmine smiled sweetly at Bells, hoping her comment would aggravate her without causing any ill feelings toward Lightning.

Bells had the feeling this conversation could only go downhill. And Toffee was still just sitting there, smiling!!!
"You've done a good job," she commented, her smile appearing to be genuine.
[[Ahhhh I'm running out of conversation... >.<]]

Jasmine's gaze suddenly turned just slightly piercing, as though wanting to emphasize to the other girl that what was being said was indeed the absolute truth. "Yes, I have." As soon as the words were uttered her gaze took on a more friendly impression.
Lightning was on his way back to the table, watching the two girls chat and wondering how they were getting along. He hoped Jasmine was playing nicely, but knew his friend well enough to guess that she was probably being at least a little pushy.
"Here's your tea, Bells. I hope you find it to your liking." Lightning sat down beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder lightly. He glanced across the table at Jasmine, quite certain that she was enjoying the afternoon so far.
Jasmine smiled brightly at Toffee, "we were just talking about you, darling. Lovely choice of restaurant last night. Perhaps we should all go out for dinner tonight, if there are no other plans." She was quite interested in seeing how both Toffee and Bells would act during a proper dinner date. One of the most important aspects of being of high class was proper etiquette at the dinner table, after all, and it was hard to fake that.

Bells smiled to Lightning in her most charming way, ignoring Jasmine effectively though not conspicuously.
"Why, thank you, darling," she said as she took the tea. "I'm sure it's wonderful."
Toffee was the first to react when Jasmine suggested a real dinner date. He loved restaurants, and nodded at once.
"Oh, yes, that would be wonderful. You two could show us the best place in town. Something suitably expensive, of course." He winked, unaware of the financial plight of Lightning's. "I wonder if you know anyone we could pair up with my brother, though. I'm sure he'd love to join us, but it's be cruel on him to force him as a fifth wheel. And I'd so like to see him with a girl already. I can't believe he's never had a girlfriend as yet, it's amazing - you can't blame him for lack of looks, either, can you?" He winked and gave a laugh, obviously intending the indirect compliment on himself as at least a half-joke. Though in his mind he was not joking so much.

(Hmm, I could use Twinks, she and Jasmine are friends and she's not dating anyone right now:)
Jasmine smiled and sat up. "Lovely idea and I do know someone who could join us that would be a lovely match for your brother, my friend Twinks. Should I give her a call to inquire if she'd like to meet us tonight?" Jasmine was quite interested in the prospect in bringing another female friend as it would leave Bells outnumbered.
