[[basically, I just want her to find some company. ANY company. ]] Bells finished writing the message, an annoyed expression on her face. When the text "Message sent successfully" appeared on the screen of the phone, she blew a dark lock of hair off her face and tossed her head back, snapping her shell-shaped cell closed. She felt vexed. Toffee hadn't answered, and she hated herself for calling twice after the first call. How desperate was she? She even regretted the message, but she figured it was the best course of action. Maybe he'd call. Eventually. Bells had the feeling it'd take a while, though she wanted to flatter herself with the thought that he had missed her enough to want to meet that weekend. She sighed and leaned onto the wall while slipping her cell back into her bag. She had dressed up rather carefully - then again, she always dressed up well - and had hoped to catch Toffee to spend the evening with him. Now it looked like it wasn't going to happen. She looked round on the street. She wasn't sure what she should do now. Go on an insane shopping spree to hold off her sorrows? Perhaps. But it was dull alone, and she didn't have any friends yet. She hadn't even been to school yet, she had only arrived a few hours ago, and had barely the time to leave all her stuff at the apartment her parents had got for her - ready furnished - before going out into town to find herself some entertainment.

Lightning walked out of The Running Room, a store dedicated to anything a runner could need, after working out his weekend schedule. He had taken an extra shift for Saturday afternoon, wanting some extra money quick so he could buy those new running shoes he'd been eyeing lately. This shift should cover it for him. The shoes were over $200, but they would totally be worth it. Light as a feather, super springy-- a runner's dream.
Standing outside the store he wondered what to do next. At times like these he wished he had a cell phone so he could call a friend to come meet him. He kept using the excuse that he didn't want to be tied-down with a cell phone, but in reality he just couldn't afford one. His father had offered to buy him one but he wasn't about to take it. Besides, his father would probably buy him some cheap phone that he wouldn't dare to use in front of his friends. But he did want to call Jasmine, see what she was up to. She had mentioned briefly earlier this afternoon about possibly hanging out tomorrow with Toffee and his brother and he wanted to ask her about it again. Maybe see if she wanted to hang out tonight.
As he turned right to walk down the street and possibly find a pay phone to call her with, his eyes fell across a cute girl leaning against the wall. He'd never seen her before, was she new, or did she go to the private school? He stood still a moment while looking her over, curious as to why she was leaning against the wall looking unhappy.

It took a moment from Bells to notice the boy standing close by. When she did, she looked him up the way she always checked out guys. He was handsome, actually. Bells was into two kinds of men - big and strong or lean and cute. This one seemed to be the first mentioned. Quickly she whipped up a smile and pushed herself off the wall, making sure her hips were in just the right position to appear casual but to make sure to be noticed for their nice round curve.
"Hi," she said, tossing her dark purple hair a little. "Are you from around here?"
If he was, he might yet come in handy. If he wasn't, she could have a little fun with him and then forget him.

Lightning stood casually in front of her, thumbs hooked on the belt lops of his jeans, his arms held in such a way to show off his muscles. It never hurt to have a nice set of eyes scoping you out, after all. "I am. You're not though, are you?"

Bells' smile got a little wider. Now, this could be useful. She admired his body as he showed it off. A guy to her liking, definitely.
"No," she answered calmly. "I'm not. And the only one I know around here isn't picking up her cell right now, so I seem to be left hanging." She smiled to him and offered out her hand. "Bells Dean. I'll be starting at the Meadowbrook High next Monday."

He smiled and took her hand, gripping it softly the way Jasmine had told him girls would like it. He ran his thumb over the back of her hand for a moment, just enough of a little caress. "Lightning Harper. I go to Meadowbrook myself so you're in luck. So do you have any plans for tonight, Bells?" He hoped not-- spending the night getting acquainted with her was much easier than calling Jasmine. Besides, it would be quite the story to tell his best friend when he saw her tomorrow. The both of them could have someone new to play with for the year.

Bells enjoyed Lightning's handshake and even let out a low purr as she proceeded to give him her answer.
"I do now," she said and winked as she brought herself a bit closer, making sure to swish her hips appropriately yet not too much to still remain perfectly classy. A little smile played on her lips. "You were going to offer to show me around, yes?"

Lightning smiled as she approached him, taking the opportunity to place an arm lightly around her shoulders in an open, non-aggressive way. Having a prim and proper girl for a best friend had certainly worked to Lightning's advantage over the past few years when it related to girls. "Of course I was going to, is there anything in particular that interests you? Art, music, restaurants, clothes? Let me know what you'd like to see, and I'll show you."

Bells was most happy to find that Lightning had manners. Good ones, at that. She had her standards, after all. She smiled to him and settled herself comfortably beside him, allowing his touch as far as it went.
"Oh, everything," she said with a little laugh. "I must admit I am getting a little hungry. I just came from the plane a few hours ago and haven't had the chance to go eat yet. And surely you know how the airplane foods are like?" She wrinkled her nose a little, in a delicate way. She was not really born to high class, her parents were what might be called "new money", but she had learned to think herself part of the higher social circles from very early on.

At the mention of food, Lightning was a little worried. Was she expecting him to buy her supper? He hadn't thought of that before offering. What could he do aside from take her somewhere and hope she wasn't the type to expect the guy to pay for everything. Maybe he should have taken money from his father after all, he could use it on Bells. Keeping the smile on his face and not letting her know he was having any issues internally, he kept walking along with her down the street. "Any kind of food in particular you're looking for? There are a lot of great places here, depending on what you like. I know a great sushi place, Greek place, Italian, pizza, veggetarian... Just let me know what your preference is." Hopefully something cheap.

Bells had no idea of Lightning's predicament. He looked well dressed enough and had manners. She assumed he was naturally of her own class, so to speak.
"Oh, something exotic, maybe," she answered. "I don't really have strong preferences. I feel like trying something new. You choose."
She would have rather died than admitted that in truth, her favourite food was pizza. That was far too common.

Exotic, maybe he'd take to a little East Indian place along Bloor, it looked pretty exotic and the food was exotic, but also cheap. If she remarked on it being cheap, he could always tell her that even so, the place was still very trendy and the owners just didn't believe in charging a lot of money for their food, being very humble people. Which wasn't entirely false. "Have you ever had Indian food? Curry? I know this nice little trendy place not too far, it's quite popular and a has nice assortment of exotic food. Not all of it is spicy, in case you don't like spicy." He hoped she didn't hate Indian food, since it was the cheapest nice place he could think of. If that failed he was going to suggest a sushi bar that he and Jasmine frequented where he knew the staff and could perhaps persuade them to put his meal on Jasmine's bill. She wouldn't mind.

Bells smiled and nodded.
"Sure, Indian sounds nice," she said, unsuspecting. "I haven't tried that before. Lead the way." She hooked her arm into his and tossed her long dark purple hair over her other shoulder. "So, tell me a little about yourself. Most importantly, is there a girl friend we might accidentally make jealous?" She smiled in a way that suggested she wasn't so worried, herself.

Lightning grinned at the mention of a girlfriend. "Not really. There is a best friend who is a girl who everyone thinks is my girlfriend, but she's not. We just simply use another to keep away anyone unworthy who becomes interested. You must know how it is, sometimes it's just easier to say you've got someone rather than try to explain why some other person just isn't good enough." He looked down at her and winked, "though obviously there will be a rather large group of girls who will hate you automatically, just because I've taken a liking to you. But they're bottom feeders, unimportant. Jasmine will like you, my best friend, and seeing as how she happens to be the student council president, your time with us should be most enjoyable." They weren't too far from the restaurant now, passing by a few stores and pubs. "As for me, I happen to be the star of the track team, I've won countless awards for both long and short distance races."

Bells listened to him with a smile on her face, liking every word. This seemed like a keeper indeed.
"I know just what you mean," she said with a purr in her voice as she followed him. "I shall be happy to meet this Jasmine of yours. She sounds like we might get along very well." She eyed his body up and down when he mentioned the track team. "My, my, I would love to see you run." She gave an airy laugh and then paused for a moment before continuing casually. "Since you seem to be of the top cast in school, I wonder... Do you happen to know a guy named Toffee? He's got a twin brother Coffee, and he just began school this week, as I understand."
